Mood: Scars to your beautiful - Alessia Cara
Hanzo was sitting on the couch in the living room, reading a book. Jesse was sound asleep in his lap, but the Shimada had a difficult time focusing on the words.
It had been rough the last two days. Genji wanted to get going but Ana insisted that they waited. She said that Hanzo was not ready, nor was Genji.
Hanzo had done his best to keep Genji calm, but his younger brother grew more and more agitated by the hour. He was beside himself with worry for his Master and they had almost ended up in a physical fight that Reinhardt had been forced to break off. Torbjörn had very sternly told them to behave in his home and after a walk together with Reinhardt, Genji had eventually calmed down. He was very clear with the fact though that he was leaving soon, no matter the consequences.
Although everyone understood his worry, they did not want him to head out alone and the only one he would even consider taking along with him was Hanzo. The motivation being that Hanzo was the only one able to keep up with Genji, although now, having already lost two days he might as well have traveled with anyone... even Jesse. The words had been harsh from Genji, the anger was back, but with Ana there, she had managed to keep everyone calm. Deep down they all got it, they all knew where this frustration came from and they all felt for the younger Shimada, but at the same time they could not let him go in this state. Jesse, although feeling hurt by his best friend's remark, had gritted his teeth and let the insult slide.
Jesse was another issue on Hanzo's mind. The cowboy was still not comfortable with Hanzo leaving, especially not together with Genji. Not after what happened.
Hanzo yawned. He was drained. The days had been spent torn into two directions, trying to comfort both his brother and Jesse, along with putting as much effort as possible into training with his prosthetics and helping out with the children. Torbjörn had been working day and night on everyone's equipment. No one knew the last time he slept.
Any downtime had been spent meditating with Genji. Genji was desperate to connect with Zenyatta again. He wanted to find out where he was and if he was safe. Unfortunately his efforts had been fruitless and this worried Genji even more. He had stopped smiling, his eyes looked empty and tired and he had a hard time staying still. Whenever the anxiety got too much for him, Ana or Reinhardt took him for a walk. Sometimes for hours.
Jesse wanted to be there for him, but he did not have the energy and with Jesse's energy running low, he too had a shorter fuse than usual and together with Genji's state of mind, everyone agreed to keep their interactions to a minimum. Jesse had a tendency to run off if he got hurt and they wanted to keep an eye on him as well, and to not force Hanzo to choose who to run after.
To say that everyone was tired and that the situation was becoming unbearable was an understatement.
Suddenly the doorbell rang and both Hanzo and Jesse turned their attention to the direction of the sound.
