This story is the continuation of Behind closed doors so if you haven't read that one I suggest to start there. This novel is more storydriven than BCD and also involves more focus on the other characters in the Overwatch family.
The story picks up...
Jack was sitting with his face buried in his hands, resting his elbows on his knees.
"You are a very lucky man, Jack Morrison."
Jack sighed.
"I do not feel very lucky..."
He looked up with a tormented expression and was met with an apologetic look from Ana.
"I... I did not me-"
"I know... I know..."
He sighed again and sat up, leaning back against the backrest of the chair.
Ana walked up to him and kneeled down, putting a hand on his leg. She smiled kindly.
"How are you feeling?" she asked.
"Like someone took my heart and ripped it out of my chest," he replied with yet another sigh.
"The funeral was difficult... the most difficult thing I think any one of us have ever done. Knowing how we felt, I cannot begin to understand what you and Angela went through."
Jack shook his head.
"I did that... I caused it... the stress... she lost the baby because of me..."
Ana rubbed his leg.
"I do not believe that is the entire truth...," she said. "Tell me, Jack... what happened out there?"
Jack stared blankly in front of himself.
"I... I lost control... again. Completely," he said, distraught.

He shook his head again, unable to grasp what had gotten over him.
"I... I heard... I heard them. Together... I was so weak, my mind just went dark. I knew that something did not add up and I... I tried to piece it together... I was wrong," he stammered out.
"Not entirely," Ana said and stood up.
Jack groaned loudly.
"What on earth could make her do that?!" Jack let out and too stood up.
He started pacing back and forth.
"I just do not understand! Her, out of all people!?"
"We have to wait... we will get our questions answered... but right now..."
Ana sighed.
"She is not in any condition to be interrogated," she continued.
"Where is she?" Jack asked.
"She is in her room," Ana replied. "Reinhardt is with her. He did not want her to be alone. She has been given medication to calm her down."
"Good. Right now I don't think she should be alone," Jack said with another groan and reached up to his head.
