Mood: Fireflies - Owl city

"I still don't understand why we couldn't travel by car... or at least take our new bike...," Sombra grunted. "This is not comfortable in the slightest!"

Jesse chuckled and tipped his hat at her.

"Welcome to the Wild West!" he said with a laughter. "This is how we travel in style! I wanted to give you the authentic experience."

Jesse was leaning against a crate in the cargo wagon of the train they were catching a ride on. The sun was setting over the rocky landscape in the distance.

Sombra was walking around, trying to find a comfortable place to sit and muttered displeased to herself as the movements of the train almost made her lose her balance.

"I can't believe that trains like these still exist," she said as she wiped off some dirty bags of corn and sat down on top of them.

"You know us country people," Jesse said with an amused smirk. "We are very proud of our heritage. But you have to admit it, it is quite cozy!"

Sombra raised her eyebrows and shook her head.

She rubbed her arms as the sun set ever lower behind the mountains.

"Cold?" Jesse asked.

"No...," Sombra said in a low, grumpy voice.

Jesse huffed and pushed himself up. He walked over to her, undid himself from his serape and wrapped it around her.

"Ugh," Sombra said while wrinkling her nose. "It stinks!"

"It does," Jesse said with a chuckle. "That thing has seen many years of traveling... but it is warm, you can't deny that."

Sombra didn't respond but Jesse could read of her face as she wrapped the red fabric closer to her body that he was right.

"So," Jesse said after a few moments of silence. "I take it that you already know about the history between me and Gabriel."

"I do," Sombra responded.

"How much?"

"Moira kept detailed notes of everything that happened during the experiments... between all of her subjects... all three," Sombra said and tilted her head to see Jesse's reaction.

Jesse lit a cigar and took a few drags.

"Well," he said in a deep voice. "I don't need to know about that."

"If it is any comfort to you, Gabriel got his ass handed to him during that period," Sombra said with a grin. "On more than one occasion."

Jesse looked down and got lost in his own thoughts.

"I am sorry that she did that to you... that they all did that to you," Sombra tried to comfort when she saw the pain written all over Jesse's face.

"I am not blameless though," Jesse said and looked up at her. "Gabriel tried to push me away many times, but I kept coming back, kept insisting and I assume that the drugs made it difficult for him to say no."
