"Have you been cryi.ng? Please don't cry because of me."

Angela looked up and treated Genji to a light smile. She patted the empty space next to her on the bench she was sitting on.

"I had a chat with your brother," she said.

Genji hesitated but then sat down next to her.

"Don't say that he upset you!" Genji said concerned. "What did he do? He can be very insensitive, it is nothing personal... but I will tell him off if he made you sad!"

Angela chuckled softly.

"No," she said and shook her head. "It was nothing like that. We just... shared... or I did... share some memories. He was worried about you."

"He was?" Genji asked a bit surprised, but then nodded.

Hanzo had shown a softer side lately that he still was not used to.

"I still do not like that it upset you," Genji continued.

"I upset myself," Angela said with a soft smile.

She looked out over the beautiful surroundings around Torbjörn's house.

"It has been so long," she then said as she got something dreamlike in her eyes. "Yet... it feels like it was yesterday."

Genji looked down, realizing what she was talking about from the tone of her voice. He cleared his throat.

"Many years have passed," he said in a low voice. "We are different people now."

Angela too looked down. The two went quiet for a few moments.

"Do you... ever... I mean... I do sometimes... especially when we meet," Angela said a bit unsure. "Think about... what could have been?"

She turned her head to seek eye contact with Genji, but he still looked down. The silence was torture to her as Genji tried to find his words.

"I...," he began but then stopped himself for yet another few painful seconds.

He took a deep breath.

"I got caught up in the moment," he then said. "Things had been so... awful... I needed good things in my life to not end it and when someone like you gave me attention... affection..."

Angela grimaced.

"Someone like me?" she asked.

Genji now looked up at her.

"Someone so good... so pure... beautiful," he said in the same low and deep voice.

Angela shook her head as she looked away.

"All of you must stop putting me on a pedestal," she said a bit annoyed. "I am by no means perfect."

Genji looked down.

"Well," he said. "To me... you are perfect."

Angela closed her eyes as a tear trickled down her cheek.

"So why then?" she asked in a heartbroken voice, still eyes closed. "Why did you end it like that?"

Genji sighed.

"I did not know what you saw in someone like me," he said barely audible. "A machine... the only human parts I have left are scarred just as bad as my inside... I had nothing to offer you."

Angela was just about to say something but Genji interrupted her and looked up, meeting her eyes. He looked sad and serious at the same time.

"I knew what they wanted me for," Genji continued, now in a clear voice. "Gabriel was very clear on what I was to become. He offered me a purpose... he told me to stop being selfish and do the task that life had given me... to be a weapon..."
