This story is the continuation of Behind closed doors so if you haven't read that one I suggest to start there. This novel is more storydriven than BCD and also involves more focus on the other characters in the Overwatch family.
The story picks up...
Jesse was woken up by a knock on the door and a female voice calling out for him.
"Mr. McCree? Mr. McCree, are you awake?"
Reluctantly he opened his eyes. He yawned, stretched and grabbed the covers to wrap them around his waist.
He walked over to the door and opened it.
The receptionist was standing on the other side.
"Ma'am?" he greeted her in a growly voice.
"Oh, Mr. McCree," she said and gave him a smile. "I am glad to see that you are awake. I just wanted to check up on you and see if you are hungry?"
Jesse smiled back at her.
"I appreciate it," he said. "No complaints about the service at this hotel, that's for sure. Whoops!"
He barely managed to grab the covers as they slid down his waist. The receptionist's face turned red and she looked away.
She was a small Japanese woman and Jesse's muscular and tall stature towered over her small frame.
"I-I am glad to see you up... I'll leave you be now... I'll come by with some breakfast later...," she muttered embarrassed and disappeared down the corridor.
Jesse chuckled to himself and went back inside, closing the door behind him.
He walked over to a chair where his clothes were laying and put them on. He took out his lighter and a cigar and then walked out on the balcony which had a perfect view over the Shimada Estate up on a hill.
It was fairly early in the morning and the air was still chilly. He sat down, lit the cigar and then looked up at the balcony where he had seen Genji and Hanzo together for the first time.

He took a deep breath and let the smoke fill his lungs.
He was uncertain of what day or week it was. He had intended to leave Hanamura as fast as possible after what happened at Hanzo's place, but he had fallen ill on his way through town and barely made it to the hotel where he stayed on his first visit here.
The kind and familiar hotel receptionist had helped him to a room and cared for him as he had drifted in and out of feverish dreams.
There was no getting around that it had been rough. His heart was broken and his dreams had been filled with images of Hanzo, Genji and Gabriel. He still felt weak and drained but the fever seemed to be gone.
Just being here filled his body with anxiety. At this point he hated everything connected with Japan and just wanted to get out, but it hadn't been possible in the state he had been in. He was very grateful towards the receptionist for always taking care of him without asking any pushy questions.
