This story is the continuation of Behind closed doors so if you haven't read that one I suggest to start there. This novel is more storydriven than BCD and also involves more focus on the other characters in the Overwatch family.
The story picks up...
Gabriel swallowed hard. He was aware that Genji had seen the jacket and could hear the shower and see the clothes on the floor.
"We should talk," Genji said after a while in a monotonous voice. "Get dressed and meet me outside."
Gabriel closed his eyes and nodded slowly.
Just as Gabriel closed the door behind him, Jack came out of the shower with a towel around his hips and another one to dry his hair with.
"Who was that?" he asked.
"Genji...," Gabriel sighed.
Jack stopped dead in his tracks.
"Oh...," he said and looked around the room, realizing what Genji had just seen.
"Yeah...," Gabriel responded and lowered his head. "I have to go and talk to him."
Jack looked at him with a sympathetic look.
"Do you want me to be there too?" he asked.
Gabriel shook his head.
"No. I think it will be for the best if I do it alone... He most likely knows quite a bit about my history with Jesse, but so far he hasn't shown any signs of knowing about your involvement in the whole thing, so I think this will be something he needs to clear with me."
"Are you sure?"
Gabriel nodded.
"Why are you wearing my jacket though?" Jack asked bemusedly.
A faint smile crept up on Gabriel's otherwise troubled face.
"I've missed you...," he said and glanced over at Jack.
Jack chuckled.
"Aww, aren't you sweet," he said and put the towel he had used for his hair on the bed.
He walked over to Gabriel and gave him a kiss while gently grasping his cheeks.
"It will be fine," he whispered while leaning his forehead against Gabriel's. "You got this."
"I just didn't think things would become this complicated," Gabriel sighed and caressed one of Jack's hands. "We were just coming here to talk to Jesse and then go home."
Jack smiled.
"Life is never easy, Reyes," he said in a soft and calm voice. "You and I should know that better than anyone."
Gabriel took off the jacket and gave it back to Jack. He put on his own clothes and gave Jack one last glance before putting on his mask.
Jack stopped him and pulled him in for a kiss.

This was not going to be an easy talk, but it had to be done.
Gabriel stepped out of the hotel and looked around. He spotted Genji sitting on a bench a bit further down the street, inside the yard of an abandoned apartment complex, with his arms resting on his knees and blankly staring at nothing.
