This story is the continuation of Behind closed doors so if you haven't read that one I suggest to start there. This novel is more storydriven than BCD and also involves more focus on the other characters in the Overwatch family.
The story picks up...
Jesse woke up the next morning by the sunlight shining through the window.
He felt himself tearing up as he saw Hanzo's black hair next to him. He couldn't grasp that he was actually there, in his arms again... where he belonged.
He gently removed a few locks of hair that was covering Hanzo's face and smiled as he saw the man he loved, sound asleep. He looked so peaceful... and stunningly beautiful.
Jesse reached down for the covers and pulled them up over Hanzo's bare upper body. When he had woken him up last night, Jesse had not dare to do anything but wrap his arms around his long lost love. He was afraid that any necessary movements would scare him away. Hanzo must have been tired though, because he was in the exact same position as when Jesse had gone back to sleep.
He sighed with satisfaction as he could smell Hanzo's familiar scent and he found himself twirling a lock of his hair that was flowing out across his back. Oh, how he loved that hair.
Suddenly Hanzo's eyes opened and Jesse immediately let go of the lock. His heart started beating faster, he felt nervous, although he did not know why. It was as if it was the first time he looked into those beautiful brown eyes and it sent the same sensation through him as the first time he had seen Hanzo at the bar in Hanamura. He felt like a love-struck teenager again.
"Good morning," he managed to let out.
"It is," Hanzo replied in a growly voice followed by a yawn.
A light smirk formed on Hanzo's face as he placed a hand on Jesse's chest.
"Your heart," he said.
Jesse blushed and put a hand on Hanzo's.
"Beating for you," he said with a wink.
Hanzo undid himself from Jesse's arm and sat up. Jesse did the same. The nervousness came over him again. Had he been too straightforward? Jesse instinctively went back to his cheeky self whenever he was put in an awkward position... or most of the time actually, regardless of the situation. He did not want to make Hanzo uncomfortable. Simply coming here must have been a big step for him.
"I am sorry," Jesse said in a low voice. "I didn't mean to..."
Jesse moved to the side of the bed and put his feet down on the floor. He ran his fingers through his hair, trying to come up with something clever to say.
He felt Hanzo's hand on his arm.
"Jesse," Hanzo softly said. "Thank you."

Jesse turned his head and looked surprised at Hanzo who was sitting behind him.
"Thank you for being patient with me," Hanzo continued. "Thank you for staying..."
Jesse gave him a soft smile and looked deep into his eyes.
"There is nowhere else I want to be," he replied, rubbing his neck.
