Mood: Lady - Kenny Rogers
Jack instinctively pulled back and Angela immediately got up on her feet and turned her back to him.
"Good Grace, I do not know what came over me! I am so sorry, I really should not have done that," she mumbled from embarrassement and put a hand in front of her mouth.
Jack quickly licked his lips, taken aback by what had just happened.
"I... It was just a bit unexpected...," he said surprised. "No need to apologize, Angela."
He sighed and got up to his feet. He walked over to her and gently took her free hand in his and turned her around.
"Look," he calmly said. "You are just a bit overwhelmed. A lot of different memories and emotions coming back now for the both of us... things just got a bit mixed up, it happens..."
Angela closed her eyes and shook her head.
"So unprofessional of me... I do not know what happened...," she said again in a low voice.
Jack couldn't help but smirk. The situation was just absurd, but he found her reaction adorable. This beautiful young woman having kissed a worn-out, half blind, old man such as himself and she was the one apologizing.
He decided to try and lighten the mood.
"Well...," he said and put his other hand under her chin. "I can't complain about the hospitality here... that is for sure."
Angela opened her eyes and a smile formed on her face. She started chuckling and he did the same.
She looked at his hoodie and pulled on one of the sleeves.
"This is way too small for you," she giggled. "I will get you something that is more fitting tomorrow."
Jack let go of her hand and met her eyes.
"That will be perfect... thank you," he softly said.
She went quiet for a few seconds and just stared deep into his eyes.
"I-I'll get some dinner started," she caught herself.
"I can hel-"
"No! You just make yourself comfortable," she interrupted him while turning around. "There is a bench on the side of the house that the sun should not be able to reach by now. Go and get some nice and fresh alpine air, it does wonders for your health!"
Jack watched her as she disappeared up the stairs.
"Ach du meine Güte, was ist nur in mich hineingefahren, dass ich so etwas tuen würde," she mumbled under her breath while walking away.
Jack chuckled a few times as he put his arms through the sleeves of his jacket.
She clearly needed some time alone after that encounter so he decided to take the doctor's advice and go outside. He located the bench and sat down. Although the sun was on its way down, it still shone on most of the bench but he found one end that was in the shadow.
He took a deep breath and let the cold mountain air fill his lungs. Angela was right, it felt very refreshing.
It was also nice to be outside without the visor. It allowed him to really appreciate the true beauty of this place... to the extent that his limited vision would let him.
He closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the wall with his arms resting on the backrest of the bench.
He couldn't help but wonder what Gabriel was doing right now. Where had he gone? Would he ever come back again?
