Mood: Atlantis - Seafret
Reinhardt looked down at Ana, closing the hug tighter and giving her a loving smile.
"I have missed you," he said.
Ana placed a hand on his and rubbed it gently.
"I have missed you too," she replied. "My handsome knight."
"And you, my most beautiful flower of the desert."
"Jack! Jack, can you hear me?!"
Ana and Reinhardt were pulled out of their moment and quickly turned to Angela and Jack.
"Oh, no," Ana said distraught.
Jack had collapsed on the ground and Angela was crouched next to him, shaking his shoulders.
"I will carry him inside," Reinhardt said with a sigh.
"Quickly!" Angela said worryingly. "Into the examination room!"
Reinhardt picked up Jack and once inside, he and Ana then stood back as Angela got to work on figuring out what was wrong with their former leader.
"He has had a couple of rough months," Reinhardt said. "It must have taken a toll on his body."
Angela undressed Jack and gasped when she saw all the bruises and injuries on his body. She turned to Reinhardt who avoided her eyes, pretending to tend to Ana.
Angela grunted and went back to Jack. She pressed on his stomach and sides, checking vitals and taking tests.
"Why can you men never stop beating each other up?!" Angela grumbled.
Reinhardt was just about to say something, but Ana nudged him in the side to keep him quiet. He shut his mouth tightly and kept looking forward.
Angela hooked Jack up to some fluids and then started analyzing the tests.
"Not good... not good, indeed," she mumbled to herself.
She then turned to Reinhardt.
"I need to know exactly what happened. Spare me no details!" she ordered.
Reinhardt looked at Ana who gave him an approving nod. The giant sighed and sat down on a chair that could barely fit his large frame.
He then told Angela about the morphine addiction and Ana filled in by telling her about Jack and Gabriel's encounters and what Gabriel had done to Jack's body, although leaving out their relationship.
The more details Angela got to know, the more she started to tear up. She desperately tried to fight it, to stay professional, but both Ana and Reinhardt could see how hard she was struggling.
"I... I thought I had misplaced those syringes," she said distraught. "My mind... it has been a bit foggy... the pregnancy... oh, God, Jack."
She turned to the unconscious soldier lying on the examination table.
She took one of his hands in hers.
"Why did you not tell me how much pain you were in...?" she sighed with a mix of worry and disappointment.
Ana walked up to her and put a hand on her shoulder. She looked down at Jack and shook her head.
"Do you know what is wrong with him?" she asked.
"He is severely dehydrated," Angela replied. "Low on iron... he needs energy. I would like to have him x-rayed... but he is stable for now, I cannot feel any internal bleedings and his body shows no signs of it either."
