This story is the continuation of Behind closed doors so if you haven't read that one I suggest to start there. This novel is more storydriven than BCD and also involves more focus on the other characters in the Overwatch family.
The story picks up...
"What?" Jesse asked, his excitement turning to visible confusion. "What is going on?"
"Gah!" Sombra exclaimed and grabbed onto her hair. "Don't you know how to fucking knock, you brick?!"
Jesse huffed.
"If you want your privacy that much then why don't you just lock the door instead?" he asked a bit offended.
"I did, moron!" Sombra yelled at him as she got up on her feet.
Jesse turned around and saw the broken lock dangling from the door behind him.
"Oh," he said. "I...uhh...sorry... I was just... happy, you know?"
He scratched his head.
"I guess these Asian doors are not quite as sturdy as the ones at home," he said, a bit regretful. "So, what is going on, why are you so stressed?"
Sombra walked up to Jesse and poked him in the chest.
"Did you manage to finally knock out the last of your brain cells or are you just dense!?" she barked at him. "Your little stunt there has gotten us into a deep hole! That was Maximilien on the other side."
"Okaaay...?" Jesse replied, still confused.
"Moira has put a hit on you and Genji, she wants you dead and I am in charge of bringing the two of you to the enforcer squad sent out to get you!" Sombra continued, still upset.
Jesse rubbed his neck.
"Well...," he said with a sigh. "It wouldn't be the first time they have tried to kill me... and now both Genji and Hanzo are here, we can take 'em."
Sombra sighed and sat down on the bed.
"Even if I am going to ignore that massive ego of yours... that's not the issue," she said. "They saw that you and I are here together, it is jeopardizing everything I have worked for. Everything! They expect me to aid them in this and now I need to come up with a very good explanation of why you are here and why I haven't reported it to them... Jesse, this is big fucking trouble."
Jesse pulled out a chair and sat down opposite of her, leaning his arms on his legs.
"I am sorry," he said and looked into her troubled eyes. "I didn't mean to do that. I am a bumbling moron as usual..."
Sombra hung her head.
"Then there is Hanzo as well, he is supposed to be dead," Sombra continued in the same distraught tone. "And this place, they know where I am. We can't turn this place into a goddamn warzone."
Jesse thought hard for a few moments.
"You know, you're right," he said. "I'll talk to the guys and see what they say."
Sombra was also lost in her thoughts.
"Do that," she said. "I need to make another call. Get on with it, I'll talk to you later."
Jesse nodded and got up on his feet.
Sombra watched as he struggled to close the broken lock on the door. She shook her head with a smirk and let out a chuckle.
"What did you want to tell me anyway?" she asked. "What was so important that you had to break the fucking door to a girl's room?"
