Mood: Revolution - The score
The next morning Ana and Jack were having an early breakfast in the restaurant. Ana was sipping on her tea while Jack had some toast and coffee.
"Where is Jesse?" Jack asked. "We need to head out soon."
"It was tough for him last night," Ana calmly said. "Let the boy sleep."
Jack grunted.
"He is not a child anymore, Ana," he said, displeased. "He needs to eat. We need him to be at his best for what we are about to do today."
Ana looked at her clock.
"You are right," she said. "I will go and wake him up."
Ana left Jack in the dining area and walked up the stairs to Jesse's room. She knocked on the door, didn't receive any answer so she knocked again.
"Jesse?" she called out. "Jesse, time to wake up!"
She could hear slow and heavy footsteps from the other side. The door opened and Jesse was standing on the other side, fully dressed.
"Oh, Jesse," Ana said distraught. "What is going on with you?"
Jesse was shivering, his eyes were glossy and he was sweating profusely.
"I-I'm... I'm fine," he stuttered. "We should get going."
Ana reached up and removed his hat. With a concerned look on her face she proceeded to put a hand on his forehead.
"No, we are not," she concluded. "You are running a fever."
Jack emerged behind her.
"You look like shit," he established when he saw Jesse.
"Well, good for us that we have Mr. Universe here to balance it out then," Jesse said audibly offended.
He then started coughing and had to turn away.
"You are not going anywhere in that condition," Ana said and pushed his back to walk him further inside.
"I'll be fine!" Jesse protested while still coughing. "I didn't sleep well, that's all. I just need a smoke and the-"
"That was not a question!" Ana snapped at him. "Get back into bed!"
"But Genji...," Jesse tried to plead with her.
Jack huffed.
"With that cough you will give away our position in mere seconds," he said condescendingly. "You are of no use for us, or him, like that. The best you can do is to stay here. We'll bring him back."
Ana put Jesse's hat to the side. Reluctantly and with annoyed grunts he let Ana free him of his holster and his serape.
"Can't we just wait an hour or so?" Jesse continued pleading as he removed his shirt and pants. "I just woke up... I will get better. I know the place... I have been there before, you know!"
Ana removed the covers from the bed and signaled for him to get in.
"We will head over there and assess the situation," she calmly said as she pulled the covers over Jesse. "If we need all three of us, we will come back and get you."
She patted Jesse's head and gave him a gentle smile.
"Jack is right though, Jesse," she continued. "Deep down, you know that this is for the best. We have to think about Genji's safety... and ours."
She went to the bathroom and got him a glass of water that she placed on the nightstand next to the bed.
"I will tell the hotel staff to look after for you," she said.
