Skylee P.O.V

Today morning was as usual as any other morning but there was the slightest change in Cactus behavior and so mine. I was looking forward to a chance to talk with him and he was keeping an eye on me as if, he wanted me to talk with him. He was expecting me to talk first. But neither of us made any move.

When I left for school, I made my mind to find an appropriate time and end this. I couldn't handle this ignorant game anymore. The issue was, the whole day I didn't find the time to talk with him, alone.

In classes, I was surrounded by Helen and Rosalyn and he was with his gang - trio and in his free time, he practiced basketball. The tournament was on coming Saturday - oh that's tomorrow by the way, and they were so adamant to win this. I heard they lost last year and this year they wanted to win it at all cost. Because of getting a suspension, they had wasted a lot of time, and now all their... Well, all of his free time went into practicing basketball.

At lunchtime, I went to the cafeteria to grab a sandwich and juice, on the way lost in my thoughts, I bumped into Helen.

"Move aside," I said to her and then smiled, remembering something.

"Excuse me? Don't you have manners? We should apologize after bumping into someone." Helen winked.

"No, I don't have manners now move aside."

"Well, I can see that."

"Of course, you have eyes, right?"

We both stared at each other before laughing. The whole cafeteria stared at us like we have gone mad.

"Someone is in good mood today." Helen smiled as we both ignored the odd stares nonchalantly, it had become a habit now, ignoring their stares and glares and whispers.

"Yeah! I was going somewhere. I'll meet you later," I said, giving her a cue that I wanted to leave.

"Sure, talk with him nicely, putting your sarcastic mouth on leave." She winked.

"Hey!" I protested but she had already walked away.

Shaking my head and smiling, I made my way towards the ground. As I expected, he was practicing with his team. So I made my way towards a tree at a corner and sat in the shadow, crisscrossed legs.

He didn't notice me because he was so engrossed in his game. While eating my sandwich, I took my time to admire him as he played. He was wearing the uniform of the team, they all were wearing the same clothes - blue shorts and sleeveless orange shirts that had the school logo, their names, and other few things printed on them.

I watched as his muscles flexed whenever he bobbed his arm up and down to bounce the ball. I knew he would be all muscles and six-packs but the sight of him flexing his muscles chunked something in me.

To distract me, I looked at his face, his brown hair was sticking to his forehead because of sweat. His eyes were zeroed on the hoop. He blew air out of his mouth every time he bounced the ball. I gulped involuntarily as my throat felt dry.

'Not a good distraction, Skylee'. I grinned at my not-so-good thoughts. But could you blame me? It was a very rare sight, Cactus looking all focused and drool-worthy.

Sexy in other words.

'Shut up!' I scolded my inner voice. Then took a huge gulp of orange juice and picked my novel to actually distract myself. I hadn't opened it since last night.

I frowned when I saw a paper peeking out of it. I didn't remember leaving anything in it as a bookmark. Doubtful, I put the paper out and examined it. They looked like cutout papers from a notebook and were five in total, not to mention fully written.
