Eric P.O.V

I heard muffled voices outside of the door. It was Rosalyn and Zack.

"You think they'll be back by midnight?"

"I hope so," Zack said, making my sister chuckle. Around him, she was always smiling and laughing and I loved that. I just wish I could do something about Skylee.

The image of her crying and freakout face just couldn't get away from my eyes. She was scared. She wanted me to hold her. What did I do? I disappointed her. I made her cry more. I made her strong wall shatter into pieces. There was no word that could define my state right now other than the fact that I was feeling awfully empty inside. Like there was nothing in there. Without her, the whole world felt lifeless.

Never in my life had I feel like this.

"Well, what if they don't come?" Rosalyn asked, opening the door. It was too dark in here, making it seem like no one was home.

"Then we'll just fake an emergency and they'll be here in no time," Zack replied.

"Perfect!" Rosalyn clapped her hand excitedly. As she added, "Plus, surprisingly, Helen and Owen are working together on the arrangements. I just hope things work out well between them, too."

"Give them some time. I'm sure they'll be fine."

They continued to talk without bothering to turn the lights on. They were still standing in the doorframe and I wanted nothing but to yell at them 'Fuck off!' but I couldn't. So, I just kept sitting in my place, listening to them as they discussed some party.

"I'm so excited, Zack! She'll be so happy! Oh, does Eric know it's her... Ahh!" She turned the lights on and screamed upon seeing me. Then they both exchanged confused looks.

"Geez, you scared me!" Rosalyn exclaimed, glaring at me.

"What are you doing here?" Zack narrowed his eyes at me.

"Right, why are you here?"

"Leave me alone!" I grumbled, closing my eyes.

"What happened?" Rosalyn sounded worried.

"I won't ask you again. Where is she, Eric?" Whereas, Zack sounded angry.

I didn't know why, but it just triggered me and I stood up, glaring at Zack as hard as I could.

"What's your problem? Why do you care?" I spat at him.

"Because you should be with her right now. Remember what Nick said? Stick with her and protect her! So, instead of splashing your anger out at me tell me what happened this time!"

"Oh, nothing fucking happened other than me fucking up everything!" I yelled so loudly.

"Can you both please talk like normal teens that don't involve useless yelling?" Rosalyn glared at us.

"Sit down and tell us what happened." She ordered me before sitting on the couch.

I was breathing heavily and so was Zack. My mind was so messed up.

"Sit down, Zack." She again said. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair before sitting next to her.

I sat on the opposite couch, feeling awful for yelling for no reason.

"Yelling can never be a sign of worry and concern," Rosalyn said, sounding like a parent who was telling her children of their mistake.

"I'm sorry. I overreacted. I was just worried," Zack said, giving me an apologetic smile.
