"Because love is very essence and purpose of life. As Rumi reminds us, it hits everybody, including those who shun love--even those who use the word 'romantic' as a sign of disapproval." I stopped reading here and stared at those words.

What, in the name of God, Brother Xander was thinking while giving me this novel to read?

I read the next line. "Ella was as bowled over as if she had read there, 'Love hits everybody, even a middle-aged housewife in Northampton named Ella Rubinstein'." I chuckled here.

I read another paragraph before turned the page and stared at the words.

Sweet
Blasphemy

A Novel

A. Z. Zahara

"Sweet Blasphemy. Sweet Blasphemy." I repeated those words under my breath and felt some strange tingling sensation in my stomach which was happening since I started reading this Novel called Forty Rules Of Love.

I folded the top corner of the page and closed the book. Hugging it closed to my stomach, I closed my eyes and relaxed as I was already lying on the bed. I felt my eyes were aching a bit as I was not a founder of reading books.

Today was Saturday, finally the weekend after a very weird week. Since the day I came to New York, everything was so overboard from meeting that Cactus to the first week on new high school with detention and night adventure to almost getting expelled. Then this business drama was still ongoing as I was still lying on the bed in this very boring room.

I sighed as I again looked at the cover page of the book. "Forty Rules Of Love" by Elif Shafak. Brother Xander brought that novel to me as he said it was a good read. At first, I refused to read it but then I didn't have anything particular to do so I thought why not give it a try? Not to mention I still didn't have any phone, headphones, and laptop and nothing interesting to watch on LCD TV either.

I opened my eyes and looked towards the window. The sun was shining with all its glory. It was mid-afternoon, and here I was lying lazily on the bed and was wearing Dora printed pajamas and Mickey mouse oversized hoodie, reading a Novel all day long.

It was an interesting novel, not because it was written by a Turkish writer and connected to my homeland but because I found it strangely occupying myself in it that I didn't even realize it was afternoon.

That's strange. It rarely happens when something gets on my nerves.

But I was a really slow reader. I chuckled noticing the tiny pages I had read. A knocked on the door put me out of my trance.

"Come in," I said.

It was Brother Xander who came in, dressed in his usual lawyer black attire, hair jelled neatly, it seemed like he directly came here from his office. He looked at me then at his wristwatch.

"Why are you still lying on the bed? It's already afternoon."

"Because I have nothing else to do." I smiled sheepishly.

"You can read that novel."

"I am reading it while lying." I pointed out. He raised his brows and chuckled.

"Alright. Get up and wear something causal we are going out." He said, gesturing me to sit up.

"And where are we going?" I rolled on the bed, not even a tiny part of me wanted to get up.
