Chapter 2 The reveal

I'm standing in front of the mirror putting on my best suit, finally I grab my soul pendant and place it over my head. Soul pendants are charms that help one focus their soul energy. This one helps focus magic and train the body. The reveal ceremony is about focusing on your soul energy and trying to figure out the outlet to best unleash this energy, which manifests as a soul skill.

I go downstairs and see my parents dressed up in a suit and a dress. They both took off work to attend my reveal ceremony.

"Today is a big day Wats, but no matter what your soul skill we will always love you. But if you unlock a green soul skill you are going to have to start paying your own rent." my dad laughs.

"Col, he is already nervous enough can't you give him some better encouragement?" my mom scolds my dad's joke

"Che today he becomes an adult, if he has a good skill in society and others will always try to take care of him and win favor, but for most commons/green holders they need to take care of themselves and find a way to make things work right? It would just be a early lesson." my dad jokes

"Whatever. Alright let's get going" my mom responds dryly.

On the drive I decided to meditate a little to focus my soul energy at least a little more to give me at least a little more for my reveal ceremony. I close my eyes and begin to focus in towards myself. I find my soul energy and merge it with my will. Then I begin to extend and collect energy surrounding me. Not just energy from surrounding souls that are releasing energy but also energy from the elements like if I was trying to focus magic. I extended my senses as far as I could to draw as much energy as possible.

Soon we arrive at the local magic association and go up to the desk. My mom tells the teller that we have a reveal ceremony today for me. The teller looks at the schedule and then takes my id before saying that the Revealer is in the third reveal room.

When we get to the reveal room I have to take a deep breath in because I am surrounded by representations of each element. There is a fire in a braiser, a tank full of water, a clay jar full of metal, and even a clear cylinder with a small tornado spinning inside. The floor and walls are covered with plants and the sunlight streams in from the skylight. In the middle of the room there is a pillar with a strange black crystal. The Revealer is standing right next to the black crystal. He waves me forward, then begins to explain the process of the reveal ceremony. He tells me that I will have 1 hour to absorb as much energy into my soul from around the room. He also states if there is a certain soul skill I want to awaken to draw energy from a specific source. However if I try to focus more on the skill the power it will probably be a lot lower.

After the hour I will have 30 minutes to focus my energy into the black crystal, which will read my Soul energy, my Mind, and Spirit and reveal what my soul skill is. The more energy that I can accumulate the more powerful my soul skill will manifest. The revealer then goes on to explain which energies to absorb more of for higher chances of different types of skills. If I want a personality type skill to try to absorb energy from the sun. To feel the heat and envision the light. This is often the easiest to absorb which is why so many people reveal personality type skills, however the Revealer then continues that even though it is the easiest to bring the energy of the sun into oneself it is not so easy to actually absorb. This is part of the reason why so many people only reveal green level soul skills as well. The revealer explains how to increase the likelihood of a combat type soul skill to focus mostly on the metal inside the jar. I would need to envision the use of the metal, the process of forging that metal and feel how to make something deadly. If I want a higher chance of a nature type soul skill I would need to focus on the energy from the plants. Imagine feeling how they grow, and how they extend into nature. Imagine how they take in water, bring life, and absorb the sunlight. Lastly he explained that to increase the likelihood of a magic type soul skill to refine the energy of the element that I would want.
