Chapter 101 Royal Wedding and Coronation PT.2

It took us about 20 minutes to walk back to where Princess Joan and her bridesmaids were getting ready. Cara knocked on the door and called out formally "Princess Joan, It's Lady Cara Richards. I have brought Viscount Wats Resero Magias to speak with you."

"You may both enter." Princess Joan calls back calmly

Cara opens the door, and I see that all the bridesmaids are wearing matching peach dresses with red trimmings just like Princess Stacia. Princess Joan was wearing an elegant white satin and silk wedding dress, a beautiful silver tiara that matched perfectly with her upswept silvery hair. On top of her tiara was a thin circlet of gold holding her lace veil which was currently flipped back to reveal her face accented with the perfect amount of makeup.

"Well, I should probably introduce you to everyone. Stacia is my maid of honor, then Anne, my cousin Countess Coraline Matthews DeCrave, my cousin Queen Lizel's niece Lady Amelia Cooper Colum from the Colum Theocracy, and Lady Annabelle Gentra Walters daughter of our father's brother Duke Walters are my bridesmaids. My brothers will be serving as my bridesmen." Joan introduces the three women I didn't know.

At that moment Prince Geordo, and Prince Orion came into Stacia's room. "Ohh Wats, a pleasant surprise. Are you the one filling in for Galdor?" Geordo asks casually

"Ummm what?" I say back confusedly.

"That was what I was about to ask you. My youngest brother Galdor is currently indisposed. Queen Galeisi has gone into labor a few weeks earlier than expected. However, that means that my wedding party needs one more male in order to even out the number of males and females on both sides" Joan explains

"Okay, what do I have to do? Also, where should I put the wedding/coronation gift?" I asked

"What did you get them?" Orion asks curiously

"I made a special artifact." I hint emphasizing special

"Well for the first part you just have to escort Henry's younger sister Princess Kayla Jeanne Restia Sylph. For the second part, it would depend on what kind of present it is..." Joan says shrugging

"Or onee-sama, I can escort Princess Kayla, and Wats can escort Duchess Irene Bella Dulac." Prince Orion chimes in hopefully.

"No, no that would mean Wats would have to be responsible for your ceremony," Geordo says sternly.

"Oh yeah, right, The Goblet Alliance Ceremony," Orion mutters.

"Umm, what's that?" I ask confused

"It's a ceremony to unite countries through people. It is performed when members of royalty or highly influential families get married in order to strengthen bonds between countries. It's kind of a big deal" Joan explains calmly but I see the excitement in her eyes.

"I-I see..." I say flatly. It's a fancy ceremony to tie countries together through people. I feel like I took that away from Anne and even Dragonia. From the way that Joan is talking about it is something they probably looked forward to. Also, I may have title and position but the true Royals and nobles learn the significance of these things early on, and I am simply lost.

"Joan, I have a suggestion. You are one for tradition, so why don't we bring one back that hasn't been done since Grandfather's time Geordo says coyly

"You don't mean?!?" Anne bursts out

"I do." Geordo smiles

"What did your grandfather do?" I ask confused

"When grandfather married Queen Stellaluna they had a Basho o Kirikaeru. It's Western Elvish for trading places. A tradition that for western elves symbolized the joining of two families by having one or two members in the wedding party stand behind the spouse they weren't related to" Lady Annabelle explains
