I spent the rest of the day with Marquis Richards explaining the mechanics behind the theory of elemental combination. I then explained the workings of my pseudo combination magic, and demonstrated using the fiery slash I developed. I then told him that I want to learn about the baseline concepts to build magic circles and therefore build my own spells in a true combination matter. As we experimented more and more Marquis Richards was able to get the basic concept of powering up basic level spells.

"Wats, you know even if you just release the info on pouring your own soul energy into the spell circle while building it, it can be beneficial for society. You can even start to get some small income as a guest lecturer." Marquis Richards says to me, while wiping the sweat from his brow.

"Teacher, why don't you publish it and just send me some of the money you make lecturing. Plus that way your influence can also grow and I am not suspected of anything." I answer back.

"What a great idea Wats. I might do that then. Your discovery already can change the way magic will be used in the world." He said back smiling.

"Umm teacher, my building method,wasn't experimented on before?" I ask

"That's simple, in magic studies we always pursued speed. In order to cast a white level spell that has been built up using your own soul energy although increases the power exponentially, it also significantly raises the time to cast the spell. If you were in a battle with a savage magical beast you wouldn't have time to pour your soul energy into the spell circle. Plus we always knew that a stronger soul skill class allowed more powerful magic with the same/similar casting speed. So a green level mage would practice green level spells to get more familiar and be able to cast them faster. As a mage practices their ability to absorb surrounding energy and convert it also increases. This higher conversion efficiency naturally leads to stronger spells. There was no need to forcefully boost the level of a spell by pouring in your own energy. Honestly, I'm sure other mages have discovered this trick as well but when looking at the way magic has been developing, they were probably discouraged from doing anything more with it. Societies' views on magic are skewed and this method of casting would not get much support due to the decrease in speed." Marquis Richards lectured

"So,what Teacher is trying to say is that this method is completely unusable in battle and survival so even if others have discovered it they chose to not develop it further?" I ask for confirmation

"Well, yeah kind of. But we are training on this for the purpose of using it as a stepping stone to combine magic. So that outweighs all the downsides that I pointed out earlier" Marquis Richards said with a smile.

I told him that storing power in spell circles from our own soul energy is the first step to combining spells for my pseudo combination magic. The reason that it is a pseudo combination is because it is still technically releasing two different spells with a natural enhancing effect by using the effects of each element. I figured out that in order to begin researching true combination magic I would need to understand the baseline concepts from each magic circle, and combine them into a single magic circle. This releases a single magic of a single level. Also I told him about my derivative skill allowing me to simultaneously build magic circles. However before I unlocked that I explained how I was able to control the release of spell by building it like chain casting and pouring power from my soul energy into the spell circle. This fired him up to master pouring his own soul energy into spell circles. We practiced for most of the afternoon, by the time the sun was setting behind the horizon, Teacher and I were both thoroughly exhausted. We exchanged contact info, and he said to stop by later this week for the second part of my twice a week "punishment."

After we finished practicing today, I took a quick shower and was walking Lilin and Lena home, when Lena turned to me and said "So nii-san did you like your presents?"

I honestly had forgotten about the presents they had given me yesterday, but I couldn't tell them that. They would think I didn't even care...

"I'm sure Wats was busy and will open and enjoy them when he gets home, Won't you?" Lilin turned to me as if she read my mind.

"Heh, I'm seen through. You are right I honestly haven't opened them as I haven't even gotten a chance to go home from the reveal ceremony. I know I will appreciate them because they are from people I care about. Thank you for thinking of me." I respond to both Lilin and Lena. They smile back at me, But Lena looked a little disappointed that I hadn't opened the presents, or was I imagining things?

"Nii-san if you call Beph over we can all just go with you and see your reaction to opening the presents!" Lena excitedly exclaimed

"Yeah, sure it's been a while since everyone has come over at one time. Mom and dad won't mind and treat Lilin, Lena, and Beph as their own kids anyway. Why not?"
