Chapter 21 Classes and New Friends

I met up with Lilin, Lena, Cara, and Anne in front of the buildings. I was really excited about what I had just discovered because it is the first step that I need to make combination magic.

"Hey?" I excitedly greet the girls.

"You seem excited, did something happen?" Lilin asks curiously

"Haha it's Wats, the question isn't so much if something happened but what happened," Lena jokingly intercedes

"Well yeah, a couple of things actually," I say cheerfully.

"Did you enchant something really cool yesterday or something?" Cara asked curiously.

"Oh, right I didn't tell you guys, I didn't get to learn any new enchanting techniques, or even practice enchanting yesterday," I answer scratching my head.

"Huh, why what happened? Herrero really seemed to want to take you on as an apprentice though?" Cara asked bewildered

"Oh I still am, just couldn't learn anything new because I convinced him to take another apprentice, so he had to catch her up," I reply easily. I guess it's because Cara is also interested in enchanting, she did sign up for that as part of her mage electives. I wonder if she and Colna will get along though...

"Did you just say her?" Princess Anne asked, sending me a kind of icy glare.

"Yeah, this girl is a nyx fae named Colna. She was begging Master to teach her, then challenged me to a fight to prove that she is worthy of being an apprentice as well." I answer

"And she beat you?!?!?" Princess Anne asked baffled

"Huh, no. I ended up using my derivative skill (lock) on her. She couldn't move but her soul skill is [enchant] so I asked the Master why he didn't want to take her on as an apprentice. Anyway, he agreed to teach her but had to catch her up on slot enchanting. He loaned me a few books though. Then I went home." I answered

"You could have come back to the estate" Cara grumbles

"So if it's not a new way to enchant or a new artifact what did you do last night?" Lilin asked

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot...." I answer having gotten sidetracked but then the warning bell rings. Lena rushes off to her class and the four of us walk to ours

When we get to class and take our seats Cara leans over and "so what did you do last night?" she asked.

 This seemed to interest Lilin and Princess Anne so I turned toward them all and answered " Ohh I practiced some magic, and [unlock]ed a new derivative skill. Don't know how to use it quite yet though." I whisper. Then Mr. Smith walks in, and we all turn around towards the front. I must have been really tired or excited because I couldn't focus on any of the lessons.

At lunch, I told Lena about having [unlock]ed a new derivative skill. She just laughed and said at this rate I'll have a new soul skill or derivative skill every week. Though she was interested I guess she is right, since my reveal ceremony I have gotten quite a few derivative skills, which most people have to work a long time to possibly reveal.

After lunch Cara, Anne, and I had Magic Theory. The topic was spell construction. The teacher went over some of the different known baseline concept formations, and how they describe what is being affected by the magic. It was exactly what I was trying to study last night. After class, I asked the teacher a couple of questions for insight.

"Excuse me, I understand that spell circles are made of different formations for baseline concepts, variable inputs, and concept ties. How does each baseline concept formation interact with other baseline concept formations? Can a spell have concept formations from different types of magic?" I asked the old female teacher
