After we all arrived at the guild, I and Colna went over to the smithy.

"Ahh, Hey Kid. Did you solve the problem you were having?" Herrero asked gruffly when he saw us

"Yeah, it is dealt with for now. Sorry, we are late." I answer back

"Haha. Alright. Well, today I am going to teach you two how to craft blank slotted artifacts." Herrero says smiling

"Yes, master," I answer flatly

"You should be a bit more excited, kid. This isn't normal crafting or simply enchanting. Not too many people would be willing to teach you this you know. At least not in the Humana empire." Herrero says, puffing out his chest.

"Master Herrero, where did you learn it then?" Colna asks excitedly

"Haha, I went to the dwarven kingdom Kogei-hin, and studied for 5 years in order to learn everything I could about crafting, enchanting, and enhancing. I am part dwarf yah know. Anyway, you still have much to learn however, I'm sure you could get the basics of slot crafting within a day or two." Herrero says cheerfully

"You want us to get it in a day?" I ask shocked

"Ehh, it is just the basics. Besides the genius mage and his artificer wife are sure to be able to figure it out." Herrero says nonchalantly

"Huh? Who calls us that?" I ask confused

"A lot of adventurers who know you two are learning from me. I have become known among other things as the master of the genius artificer couple. It's good for business. In fact, some people specify they want artifacts you guys have made for practice. Especially the ones made by the genius mage, the famous Viscount Magias, though the ones made by Colna or the Genius Artificer Wife are also highly regarded since they are connected to Viscount Magias name as well." Herrero explains calmly

"Is having a connection to my name really that important? What about your name?" I ask confused

"Haha, everything I make also has a markedly higher value than other artifacts of other less known crafters, but that was from my own reputation. The fact that I am the only one other than you allowed to make artifacts with your increase formations also helps." Herrero laughs.

"I-I see. Well glad I could help your business. You have done so much for me and my fiancees." I say back hesitantly.

"Now I will explain the basics of blank slot crafting. First off you have to gather raw materials. Anything that can be found naturally. The enhancement effect of materials on different types of magic still applies so it is best to avoid artificial materials, especially petroleum products. Now the next step is to begin crafting the artifact, while continuously passing mana through it, like when you are enchanting, but instead of pouring mana into a specific magic circle, you are pouring it into the material itself. However, since there are no magic formations the material only holds about ⅕ of the mana you pour into it and quickly dissipates. This is to condition the material to hold and circulate mana. Once the artifact is finished taking shape, you must continue to fill the material with mana and carve a mana slot. This will eventually hold the magic circle of whatever spell the user decides to enchant. However, carving the mana slot is the most difficult part. It is actually a formation in order to effectively 'seal' the magic circle of the desired spell to the artifact, that is specifically crafted into an artifact. I will show you how to make the mana slot now." Herrero explained.

He decided to carve a simple slotted wand. Wands and staffs help focus magic, but can also be enchanted artifacts to release a single spell. They are the easiest artifact that Herrero taught us to craft. Herrero pulls out a small log and some woodworking tools. He puts the small log on the lathe and turns it on. He then begins pouring huge amounts of mana into the wood before even picking up his tools. After a few minutes, he finally picks up his tools and begins to carve the wand, all while continuously pouring mana. The wand began to take shape, it was a very simple design with no extra embellishments. Finally, Herrero took it off the lathe.
