Chapter 39 Rescue in the Capital City

When we arrived at the imperial palace we were greeted by many servants. They all had their heads lowered in respect towards the carriages bearing the royal crest. I hop out of the carriage then help Anne and Cara down. They easily entwine their arms with mine, and then I go to the last carriage to check on Ciara and Lilin. Ciara says she is feeling better but not well enough to go out right now so Lilin elects to stay with her and care for her. Beph, Lena, Circe, and Colna exit from the carriage and are all blown away by the scale and grandeur of the royal palace. I myself am quite shocked by the size but Anne, Cara, and even Rei have all explained to me the size of the palace. A tall old man then steps up and bows deeply.

"Welcome back Your Highness, Lady Cara, Lady Ciara. Welcome to the Capital city Humana of the Humana empire. My name is Sebastian, I am one of the butlers of the royal family. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do for you." The old butler Sebastian said while respectfully bowing.

"Darling, give Sebastian everyone's luggage so that it can be taken to our rooms," Anne said softly

I just nod and pull out the suitcases and trunks that everyone packed, from my infinite storage bracelet.

"Sebastian, please have all of our stuff taken to our rooms. Also, lead Lady Ciara and Mistress Lilin to Lady Ciara's room so that Lady Ciara may rest." Anne then instructs Sebastian.

"Yes, your highness," Sebastian says bowing. He then turns towards some of the other servants "Alfred, prepare tea and lunch, Coraline go with Lady Ciara and Mistress Lilin and show them their rooms."

We were all then led by Sebastian to a large garden where a table was set with tea, biscuits, and sandwiches. The garden was peaceful and had many different flowers blooming. The sweet smell of ripening fruits wafted through the air. It was elegant and sophisticated and I felt really underdressed. "Um Sebastian, I feel really underdressed, should I go and change into something nicer?" I asked politely

"You are not underdressed in any way, however, if you feel uncomfortable I can show you to your room right now if you feel like you need to change," Sebastian answered calmly

I look over at Anne, then Cara, then everyone else. They seem to be alright so I decide not to stress too much about it.

"Nevermind. Sebastian, where is the practice field?"

"The royal guards have their own magic practice field over there, as well as the combat and drill area over there. There is also a small area for magic and combat practice reserved for the royal family right over there in this garden. Since you are engaged to Princess Anne you may also use it." Sebastian informs me and points out different directions. I can just make out the royal practice area from the patio when he points it out.

"Will we need guards to go out?" Circe asks politely

"You are all guests here. Though we do not doubt your strength we do ask that if any of you are going to be leaving the palace that you take at least 1 guard with you." Sebastian answers politely

"Is that one guard for each of us or one guard total if we leave in a group?" Lena asks

"One guard per group." Sebastian answers

"And would we be able to choose the guard to accompany us or will they just be assigned?" Circe asks

"If you choose a guard and they accept to accompany you then that is fine, however, if they decline to do so we will ask that you respect their wishes and will have another guard assigned to you. Also if you all choose to go out I suggest taking at least two guards with you." Sebastian answers
