Chapter 11 Training with the Princess

After introductions, I quickly text my mom that I will be late home as I'm going to be training. I don't mention that it will be with the third imperial princess. That isn't really something you send over text. Quin guides me back to "my room" and I change into some padded training gear. She then guides me out to a large training field. I thank her and start stretching and warming up while I wait. I'm completely restless now.

While I'm stretching Princess Anne comes out to the field guided by another maid. She is also wearing padded training gear, however hers hugs her body, and compliments every line and curve of her body. Her golden hair is braided like a crown and tied up in the back to stay out of the way. Absolutely beautiful, and breathtaking. Like a goddess descending to earth to fight a monster. When she notices my gaze I embarrassedly turn away. I can feel my cheeks redden.

"While we are waiting for Uncle, how about we chat?" Princess Anne suggests coming up to me

"If that is what your highness wishes for," I reply, my heart beating rapidly in my chest. I don't know how to deal with this pressure. I can't afford to piss her off. She is the princess, she could easily ruin my life with just a word.

She comes up to me and places her hand on my shoulder and I stiffen up. She then says to me "please just call me Anne."

Her soothing voice and casual attitude seem to instantly help me relax for some reason. Is she a spirit mage? I think to myself. "A-a-alright, Yo.... Anne, what would like to chat about?" I hesitantly ask

"Well for starters how about combination magic?" She answers

"I'm not any kind of expert, which is why I want to know more. I found the theory and the basic principles in an elemental magic basics textbook. It explains how each magic category, and then each magic type within that category has baseline concepts. Building a new spell is just combining those baseline concepts into the way you want them to react. Combination magic is therefore adding concepts from different types of spells into a single magic circle." I begin to explain

"You make it sound so easy." Princess Anne says

"Do you know how we produce mana for spells?" I ask

"That seems out of the blue.... But it comes from our soul energy right?"

"Yes, and no. This is just my theory based on some experiments and a little bit of research. Imagine that our souls are like mini suns. We subconsciously place barriers around this mini sun so we don't get burned. These barriers start to break down from the inside. This allows the energy inside to expand to the next barrier. Each barrier encapsulates a larger and larger area. Do you get it?" I turn towards Princess Anne.

"I don't know, it's kind of confusing." Princess Anne says a little embarrassed.

"It's okay don't be embarrassed. I'll be right back." I say to her as I get up. I go and find Quin and ask her to bring me a 1qt pot, a 4 qt pot, and a 16 qt pot as well as a qt of water. I also ask her to find Marquis Richards for me. She confusedly agrees. Soon she comes back with the three pots, and a qt of water in a measuring cup, Marquis Richards behind her and Cara following him.

I grab the pots and water from Quin and thank her. I then tell Marquis Richards and Cara to go to the patio by the practice field I was just at. I head towards the field and find Princess Anne. I ask her to follow me to the patio. Marquis Richards and Cara are already by one of the tables and are being served some ice tea by some maids. I walk up to their table with the pots and water. "Teacher, before we start practicing today I would like to try something first," I say to Marquis Richards
