Chapter 17 [Unlock] derivative skills
As the five of us stepped out of the [portal], Marquis Richards was standing there, his mouth agape and his wide open. He could hardly believe that a [portal] just opened to his estate.
"Teacher, I'm sorry I'm late. I got a little held up." I say with a quick bow.
"B-b-b-blue level sp-sp-space magic!!!!" He yelled excitedly. Even Lilin, Lena, Cara, and Anne who saw me create the [portal] seemed shocked.
"What, it's just blue-level magic. Plus this book even told me how to build the magic circle." I say to everyone holding up the Transcendental Magic Spells book. "Why do you all look so shocked?" I ask
"Well, you know transcendental mages are rare right." Marquis Richards asks. Casters of transcendental magic are pretty rare too because there are no known white-level spells, but transcendental mages of blue-level or higher are not unheard of, so I don't get why they are all so shocked. I had already shown that I can do magic from all categories.
"Wats, do you know what the chances of a transcendental mage of blue or higher being revealed are?" Cara asks me bluntly
"Umm, well if 4/10 people reveal a soul skill blue level or higher. 3/10 blue soul skill holders are mages. 48% of mages are elemental mages of some sort often focusing on one element. 22% of mages are soul/life mages also usually focussing on one or two types. 15% of mages are spirit/mind mages, they can usually use most or all types of spirit/mind magic, 10% mages are transcendental mages, and 5% mages reveal a soul skill in black magic. So umm about a 1.2% chance of meeting a blue-level transcendental mage. So by numbers, In the Humana empire, there are about two billion people. In numbers there are roughly twenty-four million blue level or higher transcendental mages..." I say trying to calculate
"That may be true but you know that transcendental magic is finicky and a caster or mage may have trouble with certain types of spells," Lilin explains slightly flabbergasted
"And so why is everyone shocked right now?" I ask confused
"Wats, the number of mages who have an affinity towards space magic is about two percent of all transcendental mages. Then most of them are recruited into high positions, so not many have time to research and develop spells, or test the efficacy of such spells." Anne begins to explain
"So if it's recorded in a High School book that's still 480,000 other people who might be able to test it right?" I say starting to get confused
"Geez Ani, you are dense... Did you read the introduction to the space-type magic in the book, or did you just flip to a spell page and form a magic circle hoping it worked?" Beph suddenly appears and seems to scold me
"Umm the latter...." Then I flip to the beginning of the space-type magic section in the book and find the introduction. What I read made me realize that what I had done was pretty amazing because it read "Transcendental category: space type magic is the magic of affecting how matter and energy travel. Warning: above the green level of spells in this book, many spells are untested and may require higher mana consumption than the level of spell entails or is incomplete in the formation of the spell circle. Some spells are theoretical in nature and not to be experimented with lightly. Other spells may require extensive preparation or are to be exclusively used for the enchanting of artifacts. These spells will have instructions on the preparation needed." I look up and scratch my head, "Ohh, umm whoops? On the bright side, it worked" I say sheepishly. I then walk up to the [portal] and cancel the spell. It took a lot more energy to cancel the spell than to cast it.
