The one on the other side of the window Pt.2 (Hayato x Reader)

Your last part previously: Despite your clear decision, you couldn't help but wonder as you laid in bed that night. Would Hayato even remember you if you saw him again? Would Hayato really accept a song from you again? Could you even write a good enough song? Was that boy even Hayato? You looked out the window at the full moon. "I wonder if he's gazing at the moon tonight. Oh, how I wonder about the boy on the other side of the window."

Your mind kept traveling while you were working the next day. You kept looking out the window, desperately hoping he would show up. "Useless girl, I'm paying you for this, you know." You heard your boss say. "I'm sorry, Ma'am." "Just go take out the trash. We cleaners have no time to be slacking." "Yes, Ma'am." You grabbed the trash bags your boss was referring to and took them outside.

You shoved them in the bin and closed the lid. You were about to go outside when your eyes met with a raven-haired man.

Mystery POV a few moments before

I was walking my way to the studio when I saw that building again. I looked in the window but no luck. There was no one there. I sighed and moved along. I passed the space between that building and the next when I heard some rustling. I looked over, and my eyes met with a (hair/color) woman. It was her, the girl from yesterday.

Your/3rd POV

It was him, the boy from yesterday. You continued to look at him for what felt like hours. He just looked back. You finally decided to speak up. "Are you-?" You and he spoke at the same time. "Quit dawdling!" You heard your boss call from inside. "I-I have to go. But I really want to talk to you. I get off work at 7 pm. If you want to talk, then wait outside the building for me then. Sorry." You turned away from the man and went to walk inside. "I'll be waiting!" You heard the man call from outside. You smiled as you went into the building.

For the rest of the day, you were super focused and worked hard. You could not have your boss keep you late today. Because you ended up working so hard, she actually let you go 10 minutes early. You waited in silent anticipation outside the building.

Mystery (You probably knew from the title, so I'll just say it) Hayato POV

I made sure to finish up work before 7 pm. I ended up finishing at 6:40 pm so I decided to go ahead and make my way there. It was 6:55 pm when I arrived at the building. She was already standing there waiting for me. She was even more beautiful from when I saw her in the window. Her eyes had a different look in them. Instead of looking tired, they looked excited. Could I have brought that on? I shook off my thoughts and walked over to her. 

Your/3rd POV

"Good afternoon ~nya." You heard a familiar voice say. You looked over. And there he was. He came. "Good afternoon to you too." You said with a smile. "Would you like to talk over dinner ~nya?" Hayato asked. "I couldn't-" "I insist. I'll pay too ~nya." Hayato said. You looked down, contemplating the offer. "It would make me sad if you refused." Hayato said. "Fine, I'll go. Thank you." You said. "Wait, won't you get recogn-" He put a finger over your lips. "Shh. I've got it covered. And I know the perfect place to go ~nya." He put on some glasses and a hat. And then he started walking. You followed.

After a short walk, you two arrived at a very fancy restaurant. "B-But this is-" "After you." He said, holding the door open for you. You figured he wasn't going to give you a chance to refuse, so you went in. The inside was just as fancy as the outside. Even more so actually. Hayato walked over to the counter. "A room please ~nya." "Of course." The person at the desk said. "Right this way." A waitress beside the desk said. Hayato followed her, so you followed too. 

You two sat at the table. "Now we should be able to talk without disturbances. Oh yeah, you can order whatever you want. Like I said earlier, it's on me ~nya." Hayato said. 

~Short time skip (Skip of food ordering and food arrival)~

"A-Are you Hayato?" You asked. "The one and only ~nya." He said with a smile. "Are you the girl from that writing session?" He asked. Your heartbeat quickened. He remembered you. "Y-Yeah." You replied. "It's been so long. Even still, that song you wrote is still my favorite." Hayato said with a smile. You felt your face turn red. "T-Thanks. I'm sure it wouldn't have been so good if it wasn't you singing." You replied. You two talked about little things while you were eating. You really wanted to mention writing a song for him, but you couldn't find the words to say.

"I'll walk you home ~nya." Hayato said. "You-" You were about to turn him down, but you changed your mind "Thank you." You said. You lead the walk towards your home. After a short while, you two arrived at your house. "Thanks for walking me home." You said. "You're welcome ~nya. I guess that's my cue to leave." Hayato said. He turned to walk away. "Wait!" You grabbed his sleeve. He turned back towards you with a look of surprise. You felt your face heat up. "I-I want to write another song for you. One even better than the last one." You said. The look of surprise disappeared from his face. Instead, it was replaced with a gentle smile. "I would like that." You two exchanged email information. "Just email me whenever you finish it. Then we can set up a time to meet. I'd really like to hear the song in person ~nya." He said happily. You nodded. "I guess this is really goodbye now." You said. "More like a see you later. For sure. Bye-bye~" He said. And then he was gone.

You rushed over to your computer and immediately started working on the song. You stayed up for hours, pouring your feelings into the composition. You listened to it again once last time and smiled. "It's perfect." You said to yourself. One last thing. A title. You thought about a name for a long time. Then it finally hit you. You clicked on the file and typed in the title, 'The one on the other side of the window.'

~The next day~

You wake up early that morning and email Hayato. Almost immediately, he responds. You once again set up a meeting after work with him. The meeting was at 7:30 pm at the park. That day at work, you were just as peppy as you were the previous day. Working hard and quickly. "Look, I'm sorry for pushing you so hard. I am glad that you're putting in more effort in work though." Your boss said. "It's fine. I'm sorry for daydreaming so much. From now on, I'll try to keep the dreaming to a minimum." You said with a smile. "Sounds good to me." Your boss replied with a smile.

You rushed home after work to freshen up. But your efforts to freshen up were all wasted when you had to rush even faster to the park. You arrived at 7:35 pm. "I'm so sorry for being late." You said in between huffs of breaths. "It's fine ~nya. You didn't have to rush so much. But I'm glad you wanted to see me so much." Hayato replied with a smile. You felt your face heat up. "W-Would you like to hear the song?" You asked. "Of course ~nya." Hayato replied. You took out your phone and played the song. 

Hayato's POV

The song sounded absolutely beautiful. I could feel the sense of longing in every note. It was even better than the masterpiece she had written before. 

Your/3rd POV

"I wrote some lyrics. But you could always change them up." You handed Hayato a piece of paper with the sheet music and lyrics written on it. "This is amazing. All of it." Hayato said. "I'm so glad that you like it. I've longed ever since that day to write you another song." You replied with a smile. "Do you have to stop at one?" You felt your face heat up. "What do you mean?" You asked. "I want you to write for me more. You really have a talent. And on top of all that talent, it's also an excuse to be closer to you ~nya." Hayato said. You felt your face heat of even more. "I-I." "Please." "I accept." You said with a smile. And at that moment, you knew you had just made a decision that would change your life. You finally got to see him again. Your longing would now become reality. Your longing to know the one on the other side of the window.
