Silence. That's all there was. Silence. You and Otoya were walking side by side down the street. But all there was, was silence. It was just like before you two confessed. Back then, you two had started getting more awkward around each other. You thought a confession would fix that. But no. It's still awkward. Really awkward. Maybe it's because both of you are new at this? Maybe it's because neither of you knew what to do? Maybe you both were just overthinking it? You loved Otoya. So much. And you didn't want all your time spent together to be like this. Especially not today. It was Otoya's birthday for goodness sake! You decided to break the silence.

"Hey-" You both said at the same time. Well, that didn't work. "You can go first." Otoya said, his face as red as his hair. "No, you can go. It's your birthday, after all." You replied, your face probably just as red. "D-Do you want to go out to lunch?" He asked. You nodded your head. "You can pick where." You said. "O-Okay." The silence came back. Not that it was much worse than that 'conversation' you two just had. If you could even call it that. Maybe you weren't being bold enough?

You don't really have anything to lose at this point. You quickened your pace a little bit so you and Otoya were walking almost perfectly side by side. Then, you reached your hand out slowly and grabbed his hand. He interlocked his fingers with your own. This was it. The first time you two had ever held hands. It was awkward, but it was also nice. You liked how his hand felt around yours. "We're here." Otoya said.

You both seemingly decided at the same time that it would be too embarrassing to hold hands in a restaurant. And so, your hands separated from each other. You two soon got seated at a table. This was the chance you have been waiting for. You two can now just make small talk!

"D-Do you come here often?" You asked. "Yeah, I really like it here." Otoya replied. You tried to think of a response, but you came up blank. That was the end of that conversation. You opened your mouth to try and start another, but just then, a waiter came.

The rest of the lunch was sadly silent. But what could you expect? Things wouldn't just magically go back to normal. Was this the new normal? Would you never get to talk to Otoya like you had before? You loved Otoya, you truly did. And you were happy you two were together. But if being together meant an eternity of this, then it wasn't worth it. You wanted to speak with Otoya like you did when you two were just friends. You sighed, unsure of what to do.

"Hey, Otoya." You said. "Yeah?" He replied. You stepped over to the far side of the street, out of the way. And Otoya followed you. You reached in your bag and pulled out a wrapped box. You handed it over to Otoya. "I wasn't sure when to give this to you. But I figured now was as good a time as ever. Happy Birthday." You said. You watched as he unwrapped it. It was a jacket. "I know it isn't anything exciting. But I noticed you never wore one even though it was getting cold." You felt your face heat up as you talked. "Thank you so much, Y/N! I love it!" He said with a smile. "I picked it because I thought you would like (blah, blah, blah.)"

You and Otoya talked about the jacket for a bit. Not the weird awkward conversations like the ones earlier. But like you two were friends again. But that euphoria quickly ended. Once you two got done talking about the jacket, it was back to silence.

But even if it was silent now, that conversation gave you hope. Hope that you two didn't have to break up to speak normally with each other. You smiled as you thought to yourself. "Do you want to go to the park?" Otoya randomly asked. "Sure." You replied. And so you two started the walk to the park. But for some reason, even though it was silent, this didn't feel as awkward as the other walks.

As soon as you two got to the park, you noticed something. "Hey Otoya, we might have picked a bad time. The sky's awfully dark. I hope it doesn't-" Just then, rain started pouring down from the sky. "..rain." You continued. You should've checked the weather forecast today. Otoya quickly took the jacket out from his bag and draped it over your head. "Here." He said. "T-Thank you. But it's not fair if I'm the only one protected from the rain. Let's find a covering." You pulled the jacket back a bit so you could see better. And then you took a step. You felt your foot slip on some mud that had just been made. "Watch out!" Otoya called out, he tried to catch you. You squeezed your eyes shut.

You felt yourself fall to the ground on top of something. You slowly opened your eyes. You and Otoya had both fallen to the ground. And you were on top of Otoya. The jacket slipped off your head, revealing the sky. The rain left as quickly as it came. The sun was already breaking through, revealing a beautiful rainbow.

Something inside you snapped. The thing making you act so weird. You started laughing. You wrapped your arms around Otoya. "Otoya, why are we acting so weird?" You asked between laughs. He put an arm around you. "I was wondering the same thing." "It only took us being rained on and falling in the mud to notice." You pulled back to look at Otoya. "How about we just spend the rest of the day at my place?" Otoya asked. "That sounds great."

And so you two spent the rest of the day happily at his apartment. No trace of the awkwardness from earlier. And during that time, you realized something. You liked the times where you and Otoya could talk like normal. You two were friends first and foremost. But you also liked the awkward times, every now and then. Because those times showed that you two weren't only friends, you two were so much more.

Hmmm. I kinda like this one, kinda don't. It was a whole lot stronger in my head when I was planning than what I wrote. But I feel like it does still have its good parts. I hope you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for reading! I am still working on that special 'scenario'. But it still might take me a few more days or even weeks. Sorry about there not being a picture. Thank you so much, all of my readers, for being patient and bearing with my procrastination, laziness, and rarely business. This book means so much to me, but I also have other things that mean a lot to me. I'm going to keep writing this book, but be aware that I'm probably going to have a weird posting schedule. I hope you have an amazing day/night! Bye-bye
