Ai Birthday Oneshot

(I'm aware that it was a curse, but let's just pretend it was a choice. This will make more sense after you read.)

"Ai-senpai, if you could be your favorite animal for a day what would that animal be?" Cecil asked. "My favorite animal? What would be the purpose of having a favorite?" Ai asked. "Do you like any animals Ai-senpai?" Cecil asked. "Cats and dogs are popular among people. I suppose cats appeal to me more." Ai replied. "Perfect." Cecil said with a smile. "Happy birthday Ai-senpai." A green smoke swirled around the room and swallowed Ai. In a few moments, the smoke cleared, yet neither Ai nor Cecil remained. All that was left was a small white cat.

Your/3rd POV

You couldn't believe you had woken up so late. It was already noon, and you were rushing to get ready. You could almost hear Ai scolding you for being late. You skipped breakfast and threw open the door. You were met with an unexpected sight, a small white cat with a hairstyle like a human. The weirdest part was that the cat looked quite fed up with you. You crouched down and cautiously reached your hand out to the cat. Despite the cat's clear anger with you, it didn't scratch or bite you. You, taking this as a sign of peace, picked the cat up. You looked for a collar on the cat, but there wasn't one. "Hmm, you seem not to have an owner. I guess it wouldn't hurt to keep you, if only temporarily." You carried the cat over to your car and put it safely in the seat. You even went to the trouble of gently buckling it in. Then you got in the driver's seat and drove off to the master course.  

You shortly arrived at the master course. "Hmm, do they even allow pets in the building?" You asked yourself. "I can't leave it in the car. Oh well, I guess I'll just take it in." You gently unbuckled and picked up the cat. You were surprised at how obedient the cat was. It must be trained, you thought to yourself. "Huh? Y/N, what are you doing here?" Ittoki asked as you walked in. "I'm here to pick up Ai. I'm just very very very late." You said. "Pick him up? I thought he was already with you." "Huh? Is he not here?" You asked. "I haven't seen him today. By the way, did you get a cat?" He asked. You looked down at the cat who you had completely forgotten about for a moment. "Oh, I just found it outside my house today and decided to take it with me. If you'll excuse me, I have to go find Ai." You replied. And then you immediately wandered off to find Ai.

The first place you checked was his room. Sadly, to no avail. Not even Natsuki or Syo was in the room. Okay, how about the kitchen? Nothing. The studio? Nada. The garden? Zilch. The roof, the practice rooms, the sitting area, the lobby, the bathroom, the broom closet? No Ai. You stood on the balcony and sighed. Where on earth did he go? You had asked all the other boys in the dorm, but they also had no idea. You heard a meow from your arms. "I'm sorry for dragging you around all day. You must be pretty hungry." You said to the cat in your arms. A thought struck you as you looked down at the cat. The hairstyle, which you thought was weird to begin with, looked an awful lot like Ai's hair. "There's no way." You whispered. The cat just looked at you. "Ai?" You asked. The cat gave you a look that screamed 'finally'. "Okay. I've officially lost it." You said to yourself. The cat hissed at you in annoyance. "Fine fine. Assuming you are Ai, how would I even go about changing you back?" You asked as if the cat could speak. The cat didn't answer. 

You sighed and walked downstairs and went into the kitchen. Then you gently put the cat on the ground. You grabbed a shallow bowl and poured some milk in it. You set the bowl on the ground for the cat. "I know you're Ai, but since you're in a cat's body you should still like cat food." You said. Then the cat began licking up the milk. You rested your head in your hand and sighed. "Sorry, that we can't spend your birthday the way we normally do." You said to the cat. The cat jumped up on the counter startling you. The cat then walked over to you and rubbed its head against yours. You giggled. "No matter what form you're in, you can't help but be adorable." You said. 

You picked up the bowl once it was empty and put it in the sink. You then gently picked up the cat and carried it into the sitting area. You put the cat down and sat beside it. "We still have some day left. That means we can still celebrate." You said with a smile. You grabbed some paper and string that you, for some reason, had in your purse. You made a tiny party hat and put it on cat Ai's head. "Awww, how cute." You said with a smile. You pulled out your phone to take a picture. Ai quickly tried to shake the hat off his head. "Please." You said. Ai reluctantly stopped shaking his head. You fixed the hat and took a picture. "You're so adorable, Ai." You said. You felt your eyes get heavy. The whole reason you woke up so late was that you stayed up almost all night planning things to do with Ai. "I'm sorry, Ai." You began tearing up. Ai gave you an 'I thought we already covered this' face. "First, I wake up super late, then I waste most of the day looking for you when you were in my arms the whole time." You felt a tear roll down your cheek. The cat hopped into your lap and licked the tear that had rolled down your cheek. You giggled. "That tickles." You said sleepily. You leaned against a nearby wall. "Happy birthday Ai. I love you." You said. Then you hugged the cat close to you and drifted off to sleep. 

I'm sorry for using such a overused trope. I really just wanted an excuse to use this Ai drawing and have it make sense. Sorry if any of the characters are off. I think that Cecil in the beginning is very off. I apologize to any readers who are allergic or don't like cats since this doesn't really make sense if that's the case. I was going to add a part about the next morning when you wake up with a full sized non-cat Ai on top of you, but I couldn't get it to fit well. I hope you enjoyed this overly long and boring oneshot at least a bit! If not, then I hope you at least like the picture. I once again apologize for the bad oneshot.
