Reiji Birthday Oneshot

HAPPY BIRTHDAY REIJI!!!! (I didn't draw a picture so I added one I drew last year for Reiji's birthday. It's crazy how time flies.)

You and Reiji had been friends for only a few months now. How did you meet? Well, you met Reiji the day Quartet Night taught a lesson in your class. Reiji was so impressed by your composing that he asked Shining himself if you could be Quartet Night's composer. It was a huge shock to you, but since it came straight from Reiji, you didn't have it in your heart to refuse. No one had ever recognized your composing before. Everyone always criticized it or called it weird. And on top of that, Reiji was so nice during the class. It made you want to spend more time with him. At the time you didn't know that you would get to. Or what the feelings you had at that moment meant.

The more time you spent with Quartet Night, the more time you spent with Reiji, you started to notice something about him. He was always smiling. Always. You could count the times he wasn't smiling on one hand. Even when he was pouting about his band members being mean you could feel a smile from him. And that worried you. What did he have to go through to get such a lasting smile? What is he hiding behind that smile? You never brought it up though. You never had it in your heart to. 

But enough of that. You had a party to plan! You shook those thoughts away and focused purely on the party. Surprisingly, everyone agreed to help with the party. Well, some didn't really agree, but they were still here regardless. You wanted to make Reiji happy. It didn't matter how big or how perfect the party was, you just wanted to make him happy. You shook your head again before the thoughts from before could come back. "Are you okay Y/N?" Otoya asked. You smiled at him. "Yep! Did you need something?" You asked. "Just wanted to tell you that the decorating is finished." You turned to the group of boys and Haruka. "Thank you all for helping out! I'm sure he'll love this." 

~Time skip~

"SURPRISE! Happy birthday Reiji!" You all said in unison, or at least some people said it. "You all planned this for me? Thank you so much! I knew you all like me." Reiji said with a huge smile. "Shut up." Ranmaru, Camus, and Ai said in unison. You smiled as the arguing turned to partying. He was happy. And that's all that matters. Or at least that's what you've been telling yourself. 

"Not passed out?" Reiji asked. "Not yet." You replied with a smile. The same could not be said for everyone else. He held out his hand to you. "Will you go somewhere with me, My Girl?" "Is it alright to leave this late?" In response, he only smiled. You sighed and took his hand. "Of course." 

After a short drive, you arrived at where he was taking you. You smelled the salty air as you opened the door. It was the road that overlooked the beach. It was a popular sight that was normally crowded, but at this hour not a single soul was to be seen. You and Reiji walked over to the rail, the only light coming from the full moon. 

"So, what's up?" You asked. "Nothing much. I just wanted to spend some alone time with you." He replied. "You're a good liar, but I can't believe that." You said with a frown. "Seems like I can't hide anything from you." He replied, you could hear the sadness in his voice. "You don't have to tell me anything you don't want to." You said, looking out at the ocean. "Thank you, Y/N. For everything." You looked over and saw the sparkling tears silently rolling down his face. 

Would it be alright if you- You pushed the hesitation away. You reached over and softly grabbed Reiji's hand. For a while, you and Reiji just stayed like that. The only sound being the soft waves. And then you decided something in your heart. "Hey Reiji, I know it's not the best time. But I want to tell you something." You didn't wait for a reply before you continued. "You confuse me. I can never figure you out. You worry me. I have no idea how you became this way. I feel bad for you when I imagine what you've gone through. You make me happy with your smile. You make me sad with your smile. You're the first person who ever complimented my composing. You made my dream come true. You gave me a new dream." You took a breath and looked at the moon. "Reiji Kotobuki, I'm in love with you. Despite how much you confuse me. Even if I can never figure you out, I'm still going to try." 

He laughed lightly. "You make it sound as if I don't have a choice." "Even if you don't, I'd still like an answer." You said with a smile. "With that sort of confession, how could I refuse? I said before that I couldn't hide anything from you, but I guess I got away with one thing." "And what's that?" You asked with a smile. "How much I love you." You turned to him and your eyes met. "I love you Y/N." He whispered. "I love you too Reiji. Happy birthday." "This has been the best birthday ever. But can I get one more thing?" You took his other hand so you were holding both. "Of course." 

And so you, having successfully confessed to Reiji, kissed him. With only the moon as your witness. You didn't figure out what made him cry. But you knew little by little you'd find out every piece of Reiji. And he you. 

I have a Van request that I completely forgot about (Sorry). I'll try to write that one next after this. I haven't made much (any) progress on the failing a test scenario (mostly because I forgot about it). I forget wayyy too much. Sorry about that. I do plan on finishing that scenario (someday) though.
