(I am so sorry. I really thought his birthday was the 31st. It's in fact, the 30th. I apologize for my misinformation.)

"Hey Y/N." Yamato called out to you. "Yeah?" You answered, turning towards him. Yamato's face showed a light blush. "S-So, you know how it's my birthday in a few days?" He asked. "Of course, how could I forget?" You replied with a smile. His face became a deeper red. "Would you spend it with me? Just you and me." He asked. You felt your own face grow red. "S-Sure." You said. "You don't have to." He said awkwardly. "It's not like that! I-I want to spend it with you." You said. You both fell silent for a moment. Quietly gazing into each other's eyes. "If you're going to flirt, do it somewhere else." You and Yamato jumped at Nagi's sudden appearance and words. "I'll text you more about it later." Yamato said, turning away. "I look forward to it. Bye-bye."

~Time Skip~

That was a few days ago. Since then, you and Yamato have talked about plans for his Birthday. When you asked him what he wanted to do, he said to go to the park. So that's what you two are doing today. You sighed as you looked in the mirror. You didn't normally wear this sort of super girly stuff. But you really wanted to impress Yamato. You felt and saw your face reddening. You loved Yamato. You loved being around him. You loved his determination. You loved everything about him. But you knew he didn't feel the same. How could anyone ever love you out of all the girls out there? And plus, you didn't think Yamato cared about or had time for love. Maybe you should change? Just then, you heard a knock on the door. You checked the mirror one last time and walked to get the door.

"Happy birthday Yamato." You said with a smile. "T-Thanks." You watched his eyes travel, looking at your outfit. "Does it look bad?" You asked, your smile turning to a slight frown. "No! Uh, it's just different." Yamato said, rubbing the back of his neck. "Different means bad." You said, with a pouting frown. "Not necessarily." Yamato said. That was surprising for a guy who has spent his whole life on one goal, beating his brother. "Well then, thank you." You said, your smile returning. You reached out and grabbed his hand. "Are you ready to go?" You asked. His face was really red. "What's wr-" You realized it. You just grabbed his hand like it was nothing. You'd never even held his hand before! "S-Sorry, I don't know what came over me." You said with a red face. You tried pulling your hand from his, but he closed his hand around yours. "I-I'm fine with it." Yamato said.

Quiet. That's all there was. Quiet. You and Yamato were quietly walking to the park, still holding hands. There was barely even any street noise! "H-How's your competition with Hyuga?" You asked. "I haven't had time to challenge him recently. But I've still been training really hard." You stopped for a moment and turned to Yamato. "I know you can do it. I believe in you." You said with a smile. Yamato's face grew slightly pink. "T-Thanks." You continued walking, and the silence came back. Luckily, the park was very close by.

"It's beautiful today. It's like the world prepared a nice day just for you." You said happily. "It is a nice day." Yamato agreed, a small smile on his own face. "We should have a race." You suggested. "Huh?" Yamato asked. "Do you not want to?" You asked. "No, I'm fine with racing. But you aren't really dressed for that?" He asked. "I'll be fine." You said with a smile. "How far?" "Two laps around the park trail. So start in this spot, pass this spot, then stop when you see it again." You said. "If that's fine with you." You continued. "Sounds good. One question though, why so long?" He asked. "I thought it might give me a chance." You said. "But don't go easy on me." You said. "Let's go opposite ways. We'll still stop at the same point." You said. "Sounds good. You can count." "3....2.....Go!" Then you both set off in opposite directions.

Why did you suggest a race? It's not that you liked running a lot. Or that you really wanted to race. You just needed this time. Time to build up the courage to do something, or at least think of something good to talk about. You hated how awkward it had become between you two the past few days. You suspected that it was all your fault. You've been thinking about your feelings a lot recently. That must be affecting how you act around him. It must make him uncomfortable. You're so selfish. You made a decision as you were running. You would bury your feelings for Yamato until they disappeared. You would stop loving Yamato.
