Ren x Reader

"Let's make a pact, Ren." You said. "A pact?" He asked with teary eyes. "Yep, a pact that I'll come back to you." You said with a smile. "You will?" He asked. "There's nowhere I'd rather be. You're my best friend." You said. "How long will you be gone?" He asked. "I don't know." You said sadly. "But no matter what, I will come back to you. Let's pinky promise on it." You said. He held out his pinky. You interlocked it with your own. "And seal it with a kiss." You leaned over and kissed Ren on the cheek. His face went slightly red. "That makes it official." "Y/N! Come on! We need to pack!" "My parents are calling for me. I better go. Bye-bye." "Bye-bye Y/N, I love you." You turned back. "I love you too, Ren!" You yelled.

That was eight years ago. It was the day before you left. And now, you were finally flying back to Japan. What would he say when he saw you? Would he remember you? What if he's different? What if he loves someone else? You shook your head. You can't let these thoughts consume you. They're all what if's anyway. Maybe you were just stupid for holding onto feelings for thirteen years. "Miss, are you okay?" One of the flight attendants asked. "I'm fine. Thank you." You stood up and collected your things. You walked to the exit. You took a deep breath and stepped out of the plane. You were here. You finally made it back to Japan.

~Time skip 2 hours~

All of the moving boxes had been put into your apartment. You just had to unpack them, but you would do that later. You had heavier things weighing on your mind. The questions that had left returned once more. Would he remember you? What if he loves someone else? You had to see him. You didn't get to tell him how you felt all those years ago. What if he's different? That didn't matter. You made a promise. And you would keep it. You grabbed your bag and walked out of your apartment.

Your determination was growing with each passing moment. There was just one problem, where would you even find him? What if he isn't in this part of Japan? No. You need to look. If you are meant to find him, then you will.

~4 hours later~

You have been walking around for the past 4 hours. You've almost gotten every place in town, and some places in other towns. You felt tears come to your eyes. You covered your face with your hands. You made a promise, but what if you couldn't keep it? Would he hate you if you couldn't find him? Is he even in Japan anymore? Is he even still alive? 

"Are you lost, my lady?" You looked up.  It was a man with shoulder-length blond hair. Have you met this person before? No, that was impossible. Then why did he seem so familiar? He had beautiful blue eyes. Such beautiful eyes... "Ren?" You asked. "Huh? Have we met before?" He asked. He leaned closer to you. "Or are you a fan?" You felt your heart crack. "We have met before, Ren. It's me, Y/N. The one who promised I'd come back." You said sadly. His eyes widened. "It has been so long." He said. You had to tell him. So what if he's different. "I still love you, Ren."  He looked down. "It has been too long. I don't think I can reciprocate your feelings." You felt your cracking heart shatter into a million pieces. This is fine. You were expecting this. It's selfish of you to feel sad. You needed to hear this. You couldn't hold back the tears you were holding in any longer. You burst into tears. You felt arms wrap around you in silence. "I'm sorry." He said. 

You pulled away from him and wiped your tears. You looked up at him. "I'm sorry too. Even after you shot me down, I don't think I can give up." You said. He smiled. "You're as stubborn as you were back then." He said. "I guess I am." You smiled. "I'll make you love me again. No. I'll make you love me in a way you never have before. No matter how long it takes." "I'll be looking forward to that."
