Kaoruko's POV
"See you later, Tamao-han~" I said in a tune as I put down my phone.
"What was that about?" Futaba-han comes back into our room as she dries her hair with a purple towel.
"Tamao-han."
"Is that all?" Futaba-han steps closer to her desk and pulled out a chair. The grin on my face not showing any signs of leaving. She continues to stare at me, asking for the next string of words. "How would I know what your talking about if you're not saying anything else?"
"Let's go there." I put down my feet on the wooden floor, rested my elbows on my lap, my chin on my hands, looking up at Futaba-han.
"Rinmeikan?" Futaba-han took the towel of her head and hanged it on her chair then looks at me with a raised brow.
"Tamao-han said she had something for my birthday today. Let's go there, Futaba-han." I grinned while I look at her processing through what I just said. The grin grew even wider when Futaba-han's brows touched each other.
"What!? We were supposed to be enjoying Banana's feast for today and then go out and watch a movie you kept on pestering me about." Futaba-han huffed but the smile on my face never left its place. I put my hand behind her neck and pulls her close, purred as I rested my chin on her head.
"A date. We were supposed to go on a date after lunch. You should've just simply said it like that." I giggled when I saw the tip of her ears go red. "As much as I want to have Banana-han's lunch, I'm just as excited hearing about what Tamao-han has in store for me. I can't just go and ignore after saying I was going there."
"What about Banana?"
"She'll forgive me."
"Hoshimi?"
"I'll think about it when it happens."
"That's settled then." Futaba-han got herself out of my soft embrace, unlike what she usually does. "Go change in five minutes. Any later, I'm leaving you behind." She says as she just takes a blazer out and closes the room door when she leaves.
"Futaba-haaaaaaan!"
-
"I can't believe you actually took more than ten minutes to not change, Kaoruko." She grumbled, putting the helmet on before she could let me see her grimace about it.
"It's not the same one I was wearing earlier! It's a different color and it has lace on the collar!" I grumbled, taking the helmet that was kindly handed to me. It was routine at this point. She gives me a deadline, but she always waits for me, that always let me have a relieved sigh out when I do see her. Not that I'm going to say that out loud.
"Yeah, yeah. Grab tight. I'm not going to be scolded by Hoshimi for your sake, so we gotta be speedy about this." Futaba-han assured. I immediately obliged and held tight on her stomach. The wind was strong, it went through the layers of clothing I had on. I was starting to regret wearing a thin dress.
-
"Good morning, Kaoruko-san." Tamao-han was unexpectedly waiting for us outside their dorm. She had a big box in her hand.
I held on Futaba-han's shoulders for support, still steadying the hastened pace of my breathing. She took the helmet off my head, I thought my ears would also get torn off along with the helmet.
"That hurt!" I received a pinch on the cheek and was motioned by Futaba-han to greet back to the reason we were here in the first place. "G-good morning, Tamao-han." I glared at Futaba-han for pinching my cheek.
"Here, happy birthday." She handed me the oddly big box, I couldn't help it but be curious about it and asked.
"Thank you. What's in this?" I looked at the unreadable expression on Tamao-han's face and looked at Futaba-han for some kind of affirmation, I'm not really sure myself.
"Cake." She only smiled then and waved, then she ushered us to not be rough on whatever's inside the box. She also told us to be on our way and that she can't keep us for long there.
So without so much of a word, we rode on the motorcycle once again and returned back to Seisho.
I was really curious to know what was inside the box but was instead smacked by Futaba-han again. I wonder how many times she hit me just for this day. And! It's supposed to be my birthday! Futaba-han's really so rough, isn't she~?
"Futaba-han." I trailed off, taking the helmet myself off this time.
"Hm?" She turned her head towards me after parking her motorcycle on the usual spot. The box on the motorcycle seat.
"I still haven't heard the words from you today." I pouted, disappointed at myself for only realizing just now.
"I already did. When drool was falling from your mouth." I scrunched my face in an uprising anger and embarrassment. More so on the latter.
"That means I was still asleep! Quit teasing, Futaba-han!" I crossed my arms and turned my back on her. Then I head her laugh.
"My bad, my bad. Happy birthday Kaoruko." She turned me around and showed me that breathtaking smile she rarely makes and it never fails to make my heart skip a beat.
