No One's POV
If you're a fan of hairstyles, you'd be having a field day like how Mei Fan is imagining all kinds of hair styles on Yachiyo right at this moment.
She imagined all kinds of hairstyles on the fox's beautiful pink hair. A twintail would be a nice change of pace. A side-tail would probably no different from her usual hairstyle being that her hair is rested on her right shoulder. Hairbuns on her might be nice... A clean sweep of her hair, curled up into a ball in between her fox ears, might be kind of hilarious, but nonetheless suits her well. Oh and right, her bare neck would be in the view at all times, Mei Fan wouldn't like that somehow. Some braids on her hair would keep her look clean at all times, but Mei Fan doubts that Yachiyo's curls would stay in place. Some strands of her hair sticking out would just call for an angry fox for calling out to her on her sticking out hair. Yachiyo straightening her hair might be a fresh look and she might look unexpectedly innocent. The best and the most simple out of all would be the ponytail, her bare neck would sometimes be in hiding and at times be seen in full view when she turns her head to the side. Though her usual hairstyle keeps about half of her neck exposed, getting it all bare is too great to pass up.
"Excuse me, miss?" A stranger called out to the dog who was blocking the way.
"Ah." Mei Fan finally got back to her senses and opened her eyes. "I'm sorry!" Mei Fan immediately gets out of her way and quickly excuses herself out of the building as she drew out breaths to free herself of that embarrassment.
"I can't believe I spaced out like that thinking about Yachiyo." Mei Fan held her cheeks and faced the ground as if she wanted to be swallowed whole by the ground. "But Yachiyo really do fit all kinds of hairstyles."
The dog felt her blood rushing to her cheeks. Embarrassed by the fact that she's fawning over the fox even in her alone time. She lightly slaps both of her cheeks twice to get herself back to working order. But her blushing might not subside for quite a while longer.
Let's get back on track.
Mei Fan was initially walking around the mall to look for a present for the aforementioned fox. She stopped in front of the hair ties section and stood there for about ten minutes, trapped in her thoughts of the pink haired fox. That was until she was called out by a shopper and then she ran out of the mall.
Getting herself to calm her rapidly beating heart took a long time than expected. Still she managed to with a couple of deep breaths with her hand on her chest, her ears directed downwards along with her breathing.
"It's Mei Fan-san. It's a surprise seeing you loitering around here." A voice approached the dog.
"Tsukasa-san!" Mei Fan looked to the direction of the voice and this orange cat appeared with her worried look. "Tsukasa-san, please help me!"
"Eh? Ehhhhhh?" Mei Fan gripped tightly on the cat's shoulder.
"Help me pick something..."
"O-oh... You almost gave me a heart thinking of what exactly you needed help for." Tsukasa was caught off guard by the sudden request of the dog since her mind wasn't prepared for anything like that when she approached Mei Fan.
"What do I do?" Mei Fan asked again with tears threatening to fall out of her eyes.
"Just tell me exactly what this is for and also, calm down. I can't be seen as a bully by the people around us." Tsukasa tried to at least get Mei Fan to not be on the verge of tears anymore.
"Sorry about that, Tsukasa-san. I'll be fine." Mei Fan quickly wiped the tears and escorted the orange cat into the mall she supposedly ran out of.
"Did you already have something in mind? Like a theme perhaps? Or even better an item." Tsukasa paced herself beside the dog who was looking around the stores.
"Actually, yes. I was thinking of hair ties. I'm sure it would look good on her." Mei Fan replied without too much thought.
"It is for Yachiyo-san. Figured." Tsukusa mumbled to herself and giggled.
"I'm sure it was this way... Am I lost?" The dog seemingly haven't picked up on the little giggle from the cat and was scratching her cheek now. She is doubting the way she have gone. She probably missed it as she was closing her eyes when she apologized and ran away.
"It's this way, Mei Fan." Tsukasa pulled on the arm of the dog towards the opposite direction. "I know somewhere with nice hair ties. Trust me."
"...Right." Mei Fan reluctantly agreed. Since she had already asked for the girl in help, of course she's going to have to trust Tsukasa on her sense. She picked herself up and hurried her pace to match up with Tsukasa's.
They arrived the store with much of a silence and the unleaving smile on the cat and as well as the nervous atmosphere around the dog.
"Why are you hesitating to come in? It's not like you're going to break anything. I mean, it's all hair ties and ribbons and the like." Tsukasa stepped into the store first and stopped on the first collection of ties near the door. She then noticed that the dog didn't follow right after when she turned to the side to ask if this certain tie was a good match for the person she's thinking of.
"It's just my first time seeing an enormous arrangement of these accessories." Mei Fan scanned the contents of the store on the outside from the glass. She was once again pulled into the store to get her to watch and observe the items with her eyes.
"We can't be having you act this way, Mei Fan-san. Let's just pick something that calls to you." The cat couldn't help but sigh at this surprising meekness of this big gentle dog.
The two of them naturally separated inside the store to personally look at different sides of the store. For efficiency. At some point, Tsukasa noticed that the dog has not moved from her current spot. She had her ears listen intently to the movements of the dog. This pause of the dog only signaled the cat that Mei Fan had her eyes on something already.
"It seems like you've caught your eye on something good." Tsukasa quietly walked to the side of the dog and peered at the hair tie Mei Fan was holding delicately in her hands.
"Woah!" Mei Fan took big cautious steps away from where the sudden voice came from. "Now you're the one who made my soul jump out of my chest."
"Sorry about that." Tsukasa only laughed at the bluish hue on the dog. "So, you going to buy that? I think that would fit perfectly for the person you're giving it to."
"Yeah, me too. I've decided on these. Let's also pick these to match with this." Mei Fan took a similar piece but was shaped like a flower and we're earrings.
"It really was a good store. You were such a big help, Tsukasa-san!" Mei Fan raised the gift bag above her face with all the tension in her body gone now.
"You picked the item yourself. Still, it was fun accompanying you around the mall. See you tomorrow, Mei Fan-san. I hope she enjoys your gift." Tsukasa waved goodbye before running towards the direction of the dorms of the cats.
Something about what Tsukasa said bothered the dog. It took her a while to know what it was exactly.
"I never told her it was for Yachiyo." She mumbled to herself as her brain shuts down at the realization and embarrassment.
Even if that was her state, she managed to return to her dorm room and almost immediately dropped into the bed.
When she comes to, it was already morning and she felt some weight on her left arm. She looked to the side to find familiar pink hair and slightly twiching ears. There was even that unwavering look of mischief in her eyes accompanied with the same kind of smile.
"Good morning Mei Fan."
"G-good morning, Yachiyo." With her arm kept in place by the fox, Mei Fan couldn't even distance herself from the fox before recollecting herself again. But before she can do that, she was pulled into a kiss.
"Where'd you run off to yesterday? I even asked Nana-san and she replied that she didn't know." Yachiyo broke the kiss and asked. She was struggling to keep her poker face on when Mei Fan's tail was wagging that much.
Mei Fan was definitely now wide awake and had her brain power on the fastest. She immediately retrieved the gift bag and handed it to the fox.
"I went somewhere to get you these. Thank you for being born, Yachiyo." Mei Fan said with the gentlest smile she had ever shown the fox. Yachiyo thought she was going to melt at how soft the dog was looking.
Yachiyo opened the gift bag and was surprised to see accessories as a present from Mei Fan. She certainly didn't expect she'd get something of the like from the person in question. It's all the more reason for her to be incredibly happy at such a gift.
She couldn't wait to wear it.
As a test run, she put on the hair tie in her wrist while she brought her hair into a clean bundle. She then pulled the hair tie from her wrist and tied her hair. She smirked and then faced the dog.
In a quick reaction, Mei Fan pounced on the back of the fox, her teeth on the back of the fox's neck.
"Wai- Mei Fan!"
"Ah"
"You just marked me. Now I can't use the tie. I was looking forward to showing it off too." Yachiyo tried to look at what the dog just did, but is struggling to do so.
"Ponytails are dangerous."------------------------------------------------------
Idea came when I saw Yachiyo's birthday memoir.
That was Shun-chan!
As always,
Thanks for dropping by!
