No One's POV
It's been months since one of the two of them proposed something that brought the other into a blushing mess. Mei Fan was that blushing mess. Yachiyo had once again teased her too much, but this one time, Yachiyo didn't look like she was teasing, at least that was what Mei Fan saw through her eyes that time.
Yachiyo had wanted something more. Something that would make their current relationship a bit more concrete. But Mei Fan would always flare up and run to their room, even closes it, when the topic arises. Yachiyo finds herself at a loss.
She only wanted the person she treasures the most to be happy, together with her. She thinks that maybe it never crossed Mei Fan's mind.
She was wrong.
Mei Fan had long been under that topic. Certain situations, like the smile Yachiyo shows her when she brings her to a place she frequents to, just make her think. 'Ah, I want to marry this woman! I love her!'
But Yachiyo pressing her about it, just made her brain combust. She couldn't handle it. The pleading eyes on the usual mischievous ones, the pout on her lips, even the way Yachiyo wraps an arm and presses on her side. It was too much. Her heart couldn't handle it. She had to get away before she might faint.
On the start of the winter, a purple haired was found snooping in the jewelry shop. The employee who was right in front of her was getting flustered when the same person had been coming back for the past few days to look at the same ring. Unable to bear the stares that had been directed at their direction, the employee speaks up.
"Mei Fan-san, you should hurry up and pick one. You've been staring on that ring for too long." Mei Fan finally raises her head to meet the person behind the glass case.
"I'll come again some other time, Lalafin-san." Mei Fan hastily straightens herself before abruptly trying to leave.
"You should go ahead and buy it. Someone else might buy it before you do if you continue being like this." Lalafin calls out, making the purple haired girl to stop in her steps and thinking twice as she turned around and walked towards the store employee.
"Do you think I should really go ahead and buy it?"
"Yes." Lalafin answers in a heartbeat with a knowing smile on her face.
Mei Fan purses her lips in contemplation. She rummages her bag for her credit card. She grips hard on it before ultimately giving it to the shorter girl.
"You'll never regret this, Mei Fan-san. I'm sure it will suit her." Lalafin gives her the small box and Mei Fan blushes at the comment before leaving the shop in a bit of a spring in her steps.
Another time Mei Fan found herself being pressed for being cowardly when she could've given it then and there. She was in the house of her junior in the place where she was working at. For some reason, they had gotten close through the works that had been given to the both of them.
"S-shiori!" Mei Fan gets her blood rush to her face when she heard the words come out of the called girl.
"From what I remember, Mei Fan-san was never kept what she was feeling into herself. She moves before her body could think. Isn't that why you bought that ring?" Shiori was starting to get frustrated. She puts down the teacup she was holding onto her desk.
"Y-yes..." Mei Fan shyly answers.
A slight pause. "Then, there should be no problem." Shiori takes another sip of her favorite tea blend. "Be yourself, Mei Fan-san. She's been waiting."
Shiori shooes the purple haired out of her house when she got what she came for.
Mei Fan was left with nothing but herself and her thoughts. She walks across the streets. The streets were bustling with Christmas songs and decorations. One could not ignore those, but it went from one ear to the other of Mei Fan. She was far too preoccupied with what was going on in her head to notice.
She got back home to her shared apartment with the pink haired. A sigh left her lips as soon as she entered.
"Mei Fan?"
"...I'm home." Mei Fan looked up to see the worried look on her girlfriend. She blushes and looks away, the words leaving her mouth in a delay.
"Welcome home. Dinner's ready, you gonna eat?" Mei Fan nods.
She follows just behind Yachiyo. She kept the small box that has been staying far too long in her jacket's pockets. It's about time she should pick herself up and just say it.
"Hey, Yachiyo..."
"Hm?" She turns around to face Mei Fan.
"What would you do if I gave you a ring right now?" The question made Yachiyo's eyes go wide. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. She calmed herself before answering, slightly taking in the bashful face Mei Fan was showing at the moment.
"Then it'd be a very special Christmas. Today would be just that." Christmas. Thoughts of the event didn't pass to Mei Fan's mind. Rather, more accurately, she (forgot) about it. She was far too focused on what Yachiyo said and did on that certain day. Even the invitations from her coworkers didn't register.
Mei Fan got her hands out of her pocket. Her right hand revealing a small box.
Yachiyo took a step back, seemingly from recoil. That wasn't it. She was shocked to see the box she was dying to receive.
"Yachiyo?" Worried, Mei Fan asks.
"I'm fine. I'm just... happy. You finally..." Yachiyo shakes her head, her eyes glistens.
"Yeah..." Mei Fan goes down in one knee, gulping down the lump that was in her throat, and opening the small box. It was a gold ring with a pink amethyst gem on the center.
"Will you live with me for the rest of our lives?"
"Yes!"
For Yachiyo, it was the best gift she could have ever receive. On Christmas, even!
