No One's POV
"Claudine-san..." Prim and proper fox asks as she looks at the called girl with curious eyes. Looking at the cat all spaced-out, made the fox put on a small smile. "How do we even have a conversation you asked for when you're spacing out like that?"
The usual proud cat with her platinum blonde hair is unusually keeping quiet in her seat. She's up in the clouds in her head, thinking of something else. Though it is not exactly wrong to think that it has something to do with the reason she called this certain fox.
"Ummm... Claudine-san?" Not wanting to waste anymore time watching Claudine daydream, the fox moves closer to the cat and pokes her cheek. Succeeding in the attempt, the fox giggles at the shriek Claudine makes and how her hand quickly went to cover her cheek like it's a reflex. "You're finally back. I can probably guess what you were thinking about, but I don't want you to become red in embarrassment."
"You're not doing a good job doing that Koharu!" Claudine's face turns completely red at that statement, she had to fan herself.
"Sorry about that." Koharu continues to giggle at Claudine's antics.
"Apology not accepted." Claudine looks to the side with her arms crossed, she looks at the fox with one of her eyes closed.
"Fine. Then, what did you want to talk to me about?" Koharu starts with a deep breath to stop the giggling and focus on the reason why she was called by such a capable person, and what's more from a different class.
"You know, Tendou Maya..." Claudine mumbles, Koharu has to flick her ears to catch what the cat has just said.
"What about Maya-san? What she's been doing in class? Do you want some pictures of her too?" Koharu just has to inch a little closer to this rare bashful Claudine.
"NO! That's not it at all..." Claudine suddenly raises her voice and then quickly switched into one of a quieter tone. Koharu is not sure if she could last if Claudine continues to act like this while she covers her ears in surprise.
Koharu sighs.
"Then what?"
"I'm wondering what she would want for a few days from now." She is fidgeting with her fingers and doesn't even try to hide the sway of her tail.
"It's her birthday, I see. But you could've just ask her yourself, you're together after all. Do you actually need my opinion Claudine-san?" Koharu rests her chin on her finger, pondering on it for a short while, thinking of what the person in question was leaning to when they were together in class. She's not even paying attention to the person who felt like it was useless to beat under the bush if the person already knew about it. She sighs in defeat hanging her head down.
Koharu catches Claudine glancing at her and it dawned on her.
"Why do I know about this? I asked her sometime ago!" Koharu says with such a wide smile.
Hearing that answer, Claudine felt her blood boiling and held Koharu up with both of her hands by the collar.
"Then you already know the answer!" Claudine bursts, a vein popping out on her forehead. Koharu readily raises both of her hands and taps on the angry cat's hands on her neck.
Koharu is let down immediately when Claudine realizes it and the fox had to cough for a bit since she was almost choked.
"You know what she likes and loves, Claudine-san. I wasn't even surprised when she said baumkuchen with that big smile on her face." Koharu fixes her white polo shirt and looks at the cat straight in the eyes.
"That's why it's useless to ask her." Claudine massages her temple at how pointless this was. Even if Koharu is somewhat capable, she's almost like that Tendou Maya. They're really different though.
"Oh."
"Why are you making that expression? I'll leave, I'll make a decision myself. If I don't really come up with anything, it'll ultimately be that and macarons." Claudine walks away from Koharu with a wave. Leaving the fox with a baffled expression.
The fox is later taken home with her mouse companion, though it was accompanied with a little bit of lecture from the mouse.
On the day...
'I can't believe I'm actually doing this... I haven't seen her for days so I do actually miss her... W-wait! That sounds like I was lonely for the past few days!' Claudine is in a trance and has stopped in the middle of the hall, unaware of her much awaited person.
"Claudine..." That person surprises the cat with an embrace from the back, her chin on the called girl's shoulder, just enough to send shivers to the cat just from her breath alone.
"M-Maya!" The cat ultimately breaks away from the hold and faces the fox.
The frown on the fox is so noticeable that Claudine felt guilty about it and moves closer to the fox and gives a hug in return. Maya is now satisfied, even her eyes are smiling.
"Happy birthday Maya. I... actually have something for you. Though it's small." Claudine raises the small box she has been holding from the start and puts it on Maya's head.
Maya is on alert but feels ridiculous having something on her head that isn't a head accessory. She reluctantly breaks away from the hug and takes the box that was put on her head. She looks at Claudine for affirmation, she got a nod and a convincing smile, with that she opens the box to find a fluffy swan keychain. She looks up at Claudine with sparkles in her eyes.
She resists the urge to hug her then and there. She really wanted to kiss her even. But she resorts to just a heartfelt smile along with words of gratitude, holding close the keychain.
"Thank you."
"If that was enough to make you that happy, then I'm happy too." Claudine refuses to look straight at Maya with that expression of pure happiness, not wanting to faint from being embarrassed.-----------------------------------------------------------
