There was nothing worse than waking up at the ass crack of dawn.
Especially when Violet hadn't caught not even two hours of sleep since she stayed up reading some romance novel she was recently gifted.
"Why are we even here so damn early for?" Violet grumbled as she tried to make herself more comfortable in the stiff excuse of a chair.
She had been summoned to Austin's office, escorted by one of his personal minions, without even being explained why she was being escorted so harshly and awkwardly to his office. She knew that this one personal minion of his wasn't quite fond of her, but if he kept pushing and grabbing her arm with such force then gods help his poor soul.
It was not a pleasant way to wake up, as she knew summons like this often came along with a problem or a mission. Although, she rather it be the latter than a problem as Violet hardly felt in the mood to be brutally beaten down into the carpet as a form of punishment.

"Well, aren't you a ray of sunshine?" A voice from Violet's left said.
"Shove that ray of sunshine up your ass, would you, Julian?"
Julian was the second-best assassin in the keep, with Violet at number one, which never failed to irk the young assassin off; as both of them where always at each other's necks, trying to compete for the first place that never once left from Violet's reach. They have been competitive since very little, as both were made rivals ever since their skills started showing and promising potential. Which meant that, as they were rivals, every little mission, every work out session was them competing for a title that had Violet's name all over it. They both hated it and find it quite honestly, pretty pointless. Violet saw no point in it, since she knew she will always be the very best and frankly, she would rather keep her friendship with Julian healthy and simple, not with the constant battle that started as soon as they step foot out of their beds.
However, this didn't stop the two sixteen years old from glaring at each other, one of them clearly not in the mood for anything and the other being a burst of absolute sunshine with too much energy for this forsaken hour.
"You know, it wouldn't kill you to be at least a little nice, Violet."
"But you know what would kill you?" Violet sweetly asked, "My two hands if you don't shut the fuck up."
"Enough, both of you." A stern voice from behind Violet said, "You are both acting like six years olds."
"Really? 'Cause that wouldn't be the case if you hadn't had us be at each other throats since we were seven!" Violet reproached, pure sarcasm lingering in her tone.

Austin, the head of the Assassin Guild, approached his desk and sat down behind the massively large table and pulled out a stack of paper. "Alright, listen up." He said, completely ignoring Violet's temper, "I need you both to read this right now and memorize everything you need before noon--"
"Before noon?"
He waved his hand around, making a signal as if it was an obvious question. "That's what I said. Your mission starts tonight, understood?" He stretched out his arm and handed each assassin the papers with the required information.
Violet knew better than to question Austin or any word that came out of his mouth, but she really wanted to open her mouth and reprehend him for the absurd amount of time they were given to soak in the information. Sure, they were both more than capable of remembering it, but Violet liked to be more than prepared when a mission came. She absolutely hated failure or that anything went wrong in a mission for that matter, it ticked her off and the event was guaranteed to stay in the back of her head for a long time if it failed. Austin knew this very well, yet dared to care less and still do it even though he knew how much it will sour his best assassin.
She wanted to say something, bite back and question his authority, however, all she did was stand up and grabbed the papers with information and left back to her room. The fact that she had hardly slept at all and now that this mission came out of nowhere were starting to get to her every nerve; even the tiniest noise was starting to tick her off and she rather be alone in her room before she exploded and cursed everyone who got in her way.
