After the assassins came back to the keep from a successful spying mission, they both went to Violet's room to process the chilling secret they had just unveiled.
They were both silent all the way to her room, even as they left the building and made their way into the keep. Both assassins were an emotional mess, they didn't know whether to be scared, angry or any other feeling that was appropriate after finding out what they just did.
All Violet wanted to do was sleep, to forget about this and pretend like that didn't happen. She was beyond devastated; her only chance at freedom, which she just recently started to pay for, was taken away in the blink of an eye. Even if she paid and left the guild, her freedom would only be momentary as she would be tracked down and then given as titan food due to a sickening agreement between the Head of the Assassins and some old merchant looking to gain even more power.

Violet removed her cloak and fell face-first into her bed. She couldn't give a damn at the moment that she was dirtying her precious silk sheets nor of the fact that dry blood covered her face. She was tired, emotionally and physically, and something like dirty sheets sounded like the least of her problems at that moment.
Julian's and Violet's world felt like it was coming to an end. It turns out that all this time they were being treated like livestock for the most feared creatures to ever grace this land. That no matter how hard they tried, they both would be unable to escape the Underground and get a taste of some fresh air the way they always talked about. They just both couldn't believe that many of their friends had endured such a thing, being eaten by a titan. That the last thing they saw was the red ceiling of the beasts mouth and the hot heat that came from the titan's breath. 

"What the fuck are we going to do, Julian?" 

Her companion was just as lost as she was. He felt all hope leave his body after the news they discovered today. He had been there since he was a baby, as his mother got pregnant by one of the assassin's that previously worked in the same guild. He was brought up and trained by Austin, as his father got killed in a mission and his mother died from some mysterious illness; and as Julian's dad was one of the best assassin's way back in time, Austin felt like he owed it to Julian's dad to parent his child even though he never acted like a dad.
Now, his first and only chance to leave this house was taken from him like the world laughed at him and his simple dream. "Do we just leave?" He asked.
"So that they capture us and feed us to the titans regardless?" Violet said.
"I mean, what else can we do?" Julian asked, "At least we can guarantee a few days of freedom before we meet our unavoidable fate."
Violet groaned and sat up in her bed. "We can't just do that. What about the mission? The children? We cannot leave them in the hands of that man."
"They are probably going to meet the same fate as us or become like that despicable man, Violet! So why the fuck should we even bother?"
"Shut up, Julian!" She screamed, not being able to believe the words leaving his mouth, "So you're just going to give up? Just like that?"
"It's not like we have an option."

She made her way to where Julian was sitting and sat down on the floor, as she reached her hands out and took his in hers. "We do have an option. I have been thinking about something that might work in our favor." 
"I don't know about it, Violet--"
"Shut up and listen to me, it might be a really decent plan."
Hope lit up Julian's blue eyes. "Spill it, Grey."
"I was thinking that in this two days before the shipment of the kids, send all of your money above ground, to one of the banks that you can find. I will ensure that Austin doesn't notice that, and while you're at it, send mine too.

"Then, we will finish our mission, free the kids and as soon as we ensure their safety, we make a run for it above ground. The police is usually insanely weak around the time I estimate we finish with the children, so we would be able to slip through quite easily.

"And we don't need to take anything with us, as all of our money would be above ground and all of our weapons are going to be with us all the time, so it's just a matter that we make a run for it."
