Few Days Later..."I got it, thanks, Petru," Violet said, lifting a crate off the ground.
Levi's new squad and a few members of Violet's currently resided in a small cottage off in the countryside of the Walls. They got a shipment of food and supplies and Violet and few cadets were helping her take it all inside.
Jean opened the door, using his shoulder to push it open. The rest of the 104th and Thomas were cleaning the place, dusting and swiping every spot till it shined brightly, just like Levi liked.
"Hey! Did you guys wipe the dust and dirt off your shoes before you came in?" Saying Eren was annoyed was a huge understatement. Violet stifled her laugh, placing the crate she carried on the table, doing the same with the one on Sasha's hands and placed it beside her own. "Say what? No, we didn't. Can't you see all the stuff we're carrying?" Jean narrowed his eyes at the boy.
"Do you honestly think that attitude will satisfy Captain Levi?" Eren said, getting on Jean's face.
"Oi, how about you two cut it off?" Violet intervened, placing her hands on her hips, "That will satisfy Captain Levi, you know? Seeing you two not bicker for once." A small smirk graced her lips as the boys stepped away from each other, murmuring unintelligible apologies to the other.
As the boys got back to work, Violet unpacked the contents of each crate, putting them away in the cabinets.
She finished up the first crate when Levi walked in, going straight to the table in front of him without greeting anyone nor acknowledging their presence. Violet leaned against the counter and crossed her arms, knowing what Levi would think and say because her thoughts were the exact same.
As she expected, Levi swiped his hand on the edge of the table and brought it up to his face. "I'm quite sure I gave you enough time." The kids groaned, sighing through their noses, "Anyways...We'll discuss your lax cleaning job another time. Eren, Hanji is itching to get the experiment started."
"R-right." The green-eyed boy said, placing the broom down.
"Violet, let's go." He signalled her with a slight move of his head. Violet got up and went up to him, nodding her head as Levi placed his hand low on her back.✥
Violet sat under the shade of a tree, book in hand.
As Hanji experimented with Eren, she took the time to search more about her powers.
What she knew, what they had learned, was little. And she was determined to find some more one way or another. She had bought this book on one of her trips to the capital from a merchant selling a wild variety of books. Her eyes had spotted it as soon as she approached, as if it was calling her name over and over.
And now here she was, reading all the content that it offered. Her eyes scanned the book as she read, absorbing every word, when she stumbled upon a page with her symbol at the centre of it all. Her breathing cut short as she saw it, exactly like the one that she ignited when she wanted; when she used her magic to ungodly levels. And as she read and read, it became even harder to breathe normally once again.
Her power, that one symbol in her head, was from a devil. That she already knew. However, she did not know that this devil, the devil that her symbol belonged, made deals with humans. Horrible, horrible deals that however wrote this book decided to not mention even just one of them; they were bad enough to make anyone's skin crawl. The name of the devil was scratched off, erased for history to know. But as she read on-- holy hells. She couldn't help the hand that covered her gasp, biting back the sound. It already was bad enough that her powers belonged to someone such as a devil, but for them to belong to someone -- not just someone but a devil -- who was the sole reason as to why humanities biggest threat existed... fucking hell. She really was not the gods favourite. Her head spun as she read those lines. Holy gods-- that wasn't too appropriate for the moment. She did not want to believe those words. Did not want to believe them as true. But what did that meant for her? What just exactly did she possess?
"What are you reading, brat?" Levi's voice called. She looked up from the book in her lap and saw Levi walking up to her. She closed the book immediately and offered him a smile. "Are we done already?" She asked.
"Yeah, Hanji overworked the brat." He extended his arm and offered his hand.
"Is he okay?" She took his hand and got up, looking over to where Hanji and a few other cadets were at.
"Will be." His hand graced her lower back one more.
Ever since that day, when they confessed their feelings for the other, Levi had been keen on more affection. Not too much; if anything, these moments were kind of rare. The man was not a fan of public displays of affection, so he avoided doing such. However, he has been protective of her, territorial even. And he had been loving placing his hand on her lower back, taking any opportunity he got to touch her any way he could. "He's always fine. Don't worry about him. How are you, feeling any better?"
She smiled warmly at him, turning her head to look at him. "Yeah, the headaches are almost completely gone. And everything's healing real nice. Thank you, Levi." Every time she was around him, she became so soft and gentle. The complete opposite of how she usually is. It wasn't like they did not continue to treat each other like every other day before the kiss, but in moments like this, when it was the two of them...she was sappy as hell. And she did not know whether she loved it or hated it. She loved it because it was Levi and only he got her in this sweets-and-rainbows kind of mood. But she hated it because...what the hell? She has never been like this before and it weirded her out. But it was rare when they were this happy, the two much more preferring their usual banter. Still, it was weird, this sappy and lovey mood the two were experiencing with the other.
"No problem, Grey." He gave her back a gentle push, "C'mon, we're needed somewhere."
