Of course that as soon as they were going to get answers, men on the other side of the forest appeared, making them all drop to the ground.
Violet cursed as her knees slammed against the ground, blade in her hand. She crawled towards a tree nearer to the men who were filtering their camp when Levi called out for her. He whispered-yelled her name, a call for her to stop. But Violet did not stop and hid behind the trunk of the tree, sticking her neck out slightly to look where they were at.
She angled her blade, ready to attack. Her heart pounded rapidly against her chest, the nerves of a surprise ambush like this making her heart accelerate more than per usual.  She let out a deep breath and was about to jump, straightening her hand to drive her blade home, when they took their hoods off.
"Motherfuckers." Violet chuckled. As they removed their hoods, Hanji and Moblit gave Violet a nervous smile, startled to see the girl about to almost attack them. Violet only shook her head, putting her blade away. "Gods, I could've hurt you guys! Why didn't you just say something?"
"I'm sorry, Violet. We didn't want to scare you guys." Hanji said, handing her a newspaper. Violet took it and walked to the rest of her squad, everyone gathering around her as they read. "I think you scared us more by not saying who you were," Julian argued over Violet's shoulder.

When her eyes read the last word, Violet looked at Hanji, eyes wide in hope; her heart now beating rapidly for a whole other reason. And with Hanji's sheepish grin, it only confirmed it for her even more. The good news they had come to deliver. "And there you have it. The coup d'etat was successful." They smiled even wider, "Premier Zachary has control of the Capital and Administrative District."
"For the time being, the nobility hasn't rebelled," Moblit added, smiling beside his Captain.
"What about the boss Reeves incident?" Violet inquired.
Hanji smirked. "We got a confession that proved the charges unfounded. His son, Flegelm really pulled through big time." They nod towards the newspaper, "Just like it's written right there, it shows the charges were bogus, they abused their power and that King Fritz was a total fake."
"Holy shit." Julian gasped, "So in other words, we're free people now, right?"
"You're right, Mr Holt. A free man indeed." Hanji grinned back.

"Hanji." Mikasa called out, over the sound of the wheels of the wagon, "You might know where they are?"
"Yeah, I'll explain." Hanji said, "Erwin gave this scout investigation report regarding Lord Reiss' land. Most of it has to do with an incident five years ago that shook up the Reiss family."
"Five years ago?" Armin asked.
They nodded. "Right. On the day Wall Maria was breached." Hanji continued, "He had five children, and his eldest daughter Frieda was a down-to-earth girl that even the peasants adored. But that night, five years ago, disaster struck. Some bandits raided and set fire to the only chapel around. That night, the entire Reiss family was there praying together. And the whole family, save for Rod Reiss, was massacred that night by bandits."
Gods. Tragedy did not even come close to explaining what happened to the Reiss family that night five years ago, maybe just as tragic as what went down when the walls were breached and chaos struck somewhere far away from the Reiss family. The fact that two tragedy's stuck on the same day....damn. "To top it off, this incident occurred just a few days before Historia's mother was killed by the interior police," Hanji added.
"Gods..."Julian rubbed his face with his hands.

"In other words, immediately after losing his family, Rod Reiss sought out Historia?" Violet asked.
"Yes. There must be a reason he and his lackeys are after Historia." Hanji nodded again.
"The same bloodline?" Levi asked, crossing his arms over his chest, "Is there some secret to their blood?"
"I don't know for sure yet."
Violet shrugged. "Could be. There must be a reason why they hid Historia this much and why she's protected by the fucking Order of the Walls. It's strange, don't you think?"
"Yeah, it is strange. But what really makes me curious is that parts of the chapel are completely wrecked."
"It's a stone chapel, right? I mean if it's completely wrecked, I doubt a fire could cause such damage. It would take tons of time and effort to destroy it." Julian mused.
"That's what I'm thinking. Bandits would take what they can and make a quick escape. Plus, the only one who saw those bandits was Rod Reiss himself." Hanji said, furrowing their brows, "Soon after, he used his own fortune to rebuild the chapel. But why?"
Violet sighed. Gods be damned, what the fuck. "There's some weird fucking shit going on. Call me crazy or whatever, but I'm sure there's something Rod Reiss knows that he doesn't want the world to know. Fire or not, the chapel hides something and probably continues to do if he went to such lengths to rebuild it."
Hanji hummed. "If you think about it, it's actually strange that there were no traces of titans. Even if we are jumping to conclusions, something this suspicious deserves us checking it out."
"I agree." Violet said, shrugging her shoulders, "I'm fucking tired of people keeping secrets that end up affecting us more than they think."
"I second that thought," Julian said.
Violet looked around and saw people nodding their heads, agreeing with her thoughts. She leaned back against her seat and smirked. "Well, I say the majority agrees, so let's go. Let's get this damn thing over with."
