"So, who's the new kid?" Julian asked, riding behind Violet with the rest of her squad.
She shrugged. "He's Eren Jaeger. He'll be joining Levi's squad. He is under my care secondarily."
"Eren Jaeger? Isn't he the kid with titan powers?" Thomas asked.
"Seems like rumours run fast, huh." She nodded her head, "He isn't a threat, at least not all the time, so be nice to him. He's probably scared and confused, so you guys being mean to him won't help at all. Understood?"
A chorus of understanding rang behind her back, letting her know that she could trust her squad on not being rude to the poor fifteen-year-old kid. Eren deserved a bit of kindness from people closer to his age in this time full of uncertainty and agitation, especially when most of the world appeared to be against him and all he was. She would ensure that he feels safe and at home, as much as she could; and she would start with making sure that her whole squad welcomed him with open arms.
She turned her head slightly to the side, eyes landing on Thomas who rode on her left. "Remember that talk we had about hope?" She asked. Thomas nodded his head, despite that his brows scrunched up in confusion. He titled his head slightly to the side, as he didn't completely catch on to what she was referring to. She turned her head back to see upfront and said, "Well, then Eren Jaeger is our new hope. With him on our side, there's a bigger chance of saving humanity once and for all." It was a big statement on her part, a rather great one. To claim that he was a new hope to everyone was a risk she was willing to take. Although she wasn't a hundred per cent sure that Eren Jaeger was the key to saving them all and would change humanity for the better, she knew that somewhere along the way, with Eren Jaeger on their side, they would be able to find a way to end this misery once and for all; and it could all very well end with Eren Jaeger and his tremendous power, or it could not. Time will tell, for sure. But for now, the fifteen-year-old kid was the key to a bigger game they were willing to play for humanity. And she would feed her squad a beacon of hope so that they would never experience what it feels like to lose the one thing that kept them moving.

"Violet-- I mean Captain Grey!" Petra shouted.
Violet hoped off her horse and handed it to Theo to take it for some rest as she walked up to Petra, who was waiting for her with her usual warm smile on her face. She waved her hand at her. "Hi, Petra." She said, "You know, you can call me Violet. Nothing has changed."
Petra hummed. "Plenty has changed, Violet. You're older, you've been a Captain for a while, and you haven't hung out with us for years! There's plenty of change there."
"I'm only twenty-seven, Petra." She said, "And I do hang out with you, just not as often. I have been busy, a shit ton to do. But I'm sorry, I know I've been terrible at keeping up with you all."
"I wish you were still with us. Levi was much more fun back then, with you picking on him every chance you got."
Violet laughed. "I'm sure he hasn't changed much, he's still the same old guy." Petra continued talking, telling her about how Levi had changed the slightest bit ever since she left and filling her in on everything she had missed since she became a Captain. She was listening to Petra's every word when her eyes caught Eren hanging out alone, his eyes watching frantically everywhere for some obscure threat. She could tell he was anxious, waiting for something to happen, for his body language revealed everything to her. She turned her attention back at Petra and offered her a small smile. "Sorry, Petra, but I have something to do. Let's catch up later, okay?"
"Sure! I'd love to."

Violet patted Petra softly on the shoulder before she walked away from her and towards Eren. "If you keep worrying yourself about who out of here is going to kill you, then it won't be that much of a surprise, kid." She said.
He jumped back away from her, startled by her presence. He hadn't heard her walk, hadn't even seen her come up to him in the first place. He forced himself to look at her, trying to settle down his hammering heartbeat. "Calm down, Eren, I am not going to hurt you." She said, "I am your ally here. No one's going to hurt you, I promise."
He nodded his head slightly. "Right, sorry Captain. I'm just nervous, that's all."
"I'm sure you are, but there's no need for it. You're safe here. My squad and I will protect you, we won't let anything bad happen to you if that's what has got you all anxious."
"T-thank you." He said, "I don't know, it's just everything feels...weird, I can't explain it. But I'm glad you understand me, I know it's all very weird."
"My pleasure, kid. If you need anything, I'm here, okay?" She said, "You and I are more similar than you would think."
Eren frowned. "Huh, what do you mean?"
