"You made it, Commander Erwin!" Moblit exclaimed, relief clear in his tone.
What great timing it was that Erwin had arrived, he couldn't have come in a much better scenario than this one. In a time were morale was relatively low due to the storm that had swept them away, Erwin was like the sun after that horrid downfall. So even Violet found herself thanking the gods, even when she did not believe in them much, for this help sent from above."Is the situation the same?" Erwin asked, eyes passing through Moblit to Violet who stood behind.
A simple nod from her part confirmed his suspicions. "Good. Deploy the lifts." He ordered. Everyone started moving around, working around the order from their Commander. Violet saw everyone else move when Moblit let out an ear-piercing squeal, causing Violet to stop dead in her tracks. She turned to look at him alarmed and saw Hanji gripping his calf. "Moblit...g-gimme a map." Their voice was hoarse and they looked even worse than Violet did, making her wince.
She snatched a map from a cadets hands and brought it to Hanji, dropping on her knees as they wasted no time in explaining their plan. As Hanji forced all their strength to come through just to explain what they had in mind, cadets started gathering around hearing their every word. Their finger landed on a forest not far away from where they currently stood, but it still would require one hell of a ride just to get there. Another forest of giant trees. "It might be a long shot, but there's a giant forest here. We should head straight for it. It's not like they have a way to hide the armoured titan's footsteps, but..."

"That's where they are heading." Violet finished, understanding what Hanji meant.
"Why's that?" Someone in the crowd question, making Violet look back to the forest still pointed by Hanji's fingers. "Because even if they potentially had the strength to turn back into a titan, the titans outside the wall still act as a threat to them." She continued.
"Exactly." Hanji nodded their head, "Especially after all that fighting, and considering the distance they'll have to cover, they'll need to recover their stamina."
"Which is why they would be there. They'll want to rest somewhere where titans can not reach them." A shrug of her shoulders, "At least until nightfall when titans can't move."
It was one hell of an assumption, but it was also the logical answer. She was sure that's where they would head, where she would head if she was in the same situation as them. It was a safe haven for them, a far reach from titans and plenty of trees surrounding them to confuse the Survey Corps cadets if they came for them. They were not dumb, did not even come close to such a thing; they had everything planned out to near perfection, but the Survey Corps was also smart, even smarter than their two working brains.

And they would go hunting.

"Julian, fire a red signal!" She ordered, seeing a red flare coming from her right.
Once they had agreed upon Hanji's plan, the cadets split up into groups, Violet leading one of her own. Theo and Thomas followed their Captain's lead, having come with Erwin when they needed help. Julian rode close to her left, a couple of steps behind her, while around five more cadets she had talked to before rode behind her too.
They wasted no time jumping into action, as getting Eren Jaeger back was their number one priority for every single person wearing the Wings of Freedom. They did not have the slightest idea what they wanted from the fifteen-year-old kid, but judging from their actions in the past mere few hours, it was dead obvious they were anything but good. And Violet would be damned if they laid a single finger on the kid and caused him any sort of harm.

"Captain Grey!" A young boy said, "D-do you think that Eren Jaeger is still alive?"
The boy had good intentions, but something about his question irked Violet off. She clenched her jaw, biting back her growl. "If he wasn't alive, cadet, do you think we would be doing this mission and risking our fucking lives?" Silence was her only answer, "Don't make questions like that again. Someone else might not like it either, much less than I did. Captain Levi, for that matter."
Captain Levi. Saying his name out loud made the anger coursing through her veins settle down for a bit. She wondered how he was, what he was doing while she was out here riding at hells speed to get to a damn forest. She had often wondered what he would've done if he was here, what he would say or think to make this all better. He would know what to do, always knew what to do or say, so when she thought about that, it made her think a bit better; think back to her training and how Levi Ackerman would strategize to get them out of this hell-hole. It truly marvelled her and concerned her at the same time how this man seemed to be all she thought about lately, how he plagued her thoughts day and night. How he was an anchor back to her sanity in times like this. It scared her, yet amazed her. She had never felt like this before, never had experienced such a phenomenon before. And probably never will ever again.
She had promised him to go back, go back to him. And she will, even if she had to face all hells and divines just to get to him. She would, would go to whatever end to fulfil her promise over and over again, as many times need be. So she made her horse pick up the speed, voice roaring out a command, "Pick up your speed! We have to get there fast!"

It was just their luck that as soon as they were in the entry of the forest, a stampede of titans had to appear right when they were about to enter. They were blocking the way in, posing as a threat to them and making it impossible to get to Eren Jaeger. If they tried something, tried to get past them, they would leave with fewer cadets than what they came here with, and that was not a deal Violet was willing to take. As her eyes tried to find another way in, they caught a light coming from way into the forest. Someone had transformed. That was the same light that had come out of the titan shifters when they transformed into their respective titans. Holy gods.
They had to get in there, now.

Violet grabbed the reins of her horse and made it go left, ordering her squad and another to join her while the others took the right. The only way in was splitting up, detouring and making themselves targets in different directions. That was the only way in. And just like she expected, like she knew it was going to happen by making this decision, a cadet from the other squad joining her was snatched, leaving their horse a single traveller. The cry of fear that left the cadets lips haunted everybody, making their skins crawl at the very agony that his tone projected. The cadets around her mirrored the boy's cry, some turning to see the end of his life. "Oi, cadet, eyes on upfront. Pick up the pace, there's nothing you can do." Violet said, even when it pained her that his life had to be sacrificed by the choice she made. But it had to be done, had to happen, in order to save Eren Jaeger and stop the madness.

The boy's death wouldn't go in vain, nor the others who died the same way, as they managed to get in. Violet and her squad changed into their gears, connecting it through trees to get by. Julian, Theo and Thomas followed close behind her, while the rest took another route to cover more ground. They flew all over to a tree where the cadets of the 104th were all gathered, talking to another titan shifter that Violet had never seen before. "What's going on cadets?" Her eyes never left the titan, feeling alarmed that they were so close to the beast like that.
"This is Ymir. She's the one they took! In titan form!" Connie Springer said, head turning to Ymir, "Why are you the only one here?" Ymir offered no explanation, moving her head to the other side to avoid Connie's stare. From the corner of her eyes, Violet could see Julian visibly frown. "Where's Eren? Where are the others?" Julian asked.
"Did you get away from Reiner? Where are they?" Jean demanded, voice going up a notch. The forest was dead silent as the 104th cadets and Violet's Squad stared at the titan with eagle eyes. Violet turned away from Ymir, eyes scanning the forest around them for something they had missed. It was all too weird. If she had a coin for every single time she felt something was off this past couple of days, the gods know she would be filthy rich. Even richer if she was also handed a coin for every time she was right.

And as if the gods themselves were agreeing with her thoughts, Historia came flying over to them, eyes watering as she spotted the titan shifter that meant so dearly to her. "Ymir! Thank goodness!"
Violet was about to cry out her warning when Ymir used the tree to impulse herself and captured Historia in her mouth.
