"Oi, Grey." Levi said, "You better remember the rules." Violet, mounted on top of her horse just like the rest, nodded her head as she faced the Captain in front of her. The taunting day of the expedition came along and now all the cadets that made up the Survey Corps were waiting for the massive gate in Wall Maria that lead to the outside to be raised up. People were out in the streets, seeing the disgraced heroes await the gates that would guide them to their deaths. The ordinary people hated the Survey Corps and all they did, seeing them as a waste of taxes because all of those cadets died without achieving much which made their hard-earned money go to waste; at least that's what they said, as the reality was much more different from what their eyes could see.
"Yes, sir."
"Which are?" Violet internally rolled her eyes, finding Levi's request another pain in her ass. This mission was already one, along with consoling the terrified cadets as it wasn't her forte, and now Levi was doing what he did best which was irking her off with just a few words. "No powers unless desperately necessary, no recklessness, and no escaping." Violet said, "The recklessness one is not going to happen, because quite frankly I tend to do that shit sometimes and the last one was so uncalled for. I haven't escaped in the month I've been here. I would've done that a long time ago if I truly wanted to."
"I only asked you about the rules, not what you felt, brat."
She growled. "You're a gods damn asshole, you know that?" Violet said through gritted teeth's.

Levi only turned his head to face up-front and ignored the girl who was fuming on the inside. Oh, how she hated the guy. It was a miracle his head was still attached to his body because all Violet wanted to do was slice his head off with her very blades. At least those blades will have another purpose than only killing titans; it was quite the upgrade. It was terribly hard to stop herself from snapping back at him or causing him some harm, as Violet truly despised the guy. He just knew how to get to her skin and Violet didn't know why she let him do such a thing.

She looked around the part of town they were in, to distract herself from the annoyance pulsing on her head. While they were so near the wall, there were many houses nearby. Violet admired them with wide eyes, never seeing something quite like she was seeing in her whole life. The above-ground still hadn't failed to amuse her, as she stared at the houses and observed very closely the rooftops and its textures; the glass from the windows, the material of the walls, the vibrant colours each house displayed, so so different from the gloomy place she had grew up in. Everything was just so incredible to her, so interesting, she could stare at it for a while and never get bored.
As she observed each house with eagle eyes, her eyes reached another window in a small house where she noticed three little kids staring at her with wild eyes. They seemed to be around the same age, two boys and a stunning little girl. There was clear awe on their faces, their mouths almost all the way to the floor and eyes so wide, as they stared at the admirable soldiers about to risk it all for all that humanity was. Caught off guard, Violet shifted a little in her horse and eventually offered them a small, warm smile, feeling a loving feeling on her heart as she stared at the innocent little lives. Seeing her smile at them, they returned the gesture with frantic waves and bright smiles, wishing her good luck and a safe return. Violet waved at them back, when she heard the Captain talk. "Oi, pay attention. They are about to open the gate."

Violet's eyes quickly left the kids and the house as she turned to look at the wall. It was massive, maybe even bigger than what she had thought. She really hadn't paid it much attention when they arrived, as she was busy looking at her surroundings (which were all the different houses); but gods weren't those damn walls huge.
It was crazy to Violet to think that a titan could be of that massive height. While none have been discovered that challenged the stature of the walls, the thought didn't leave her mind as she kept staring at it with so much care with her dull eyes. Maybe she would shit her pants if she saw something of that size, as it was sure to destroy everything in its path.
If she were to face such a creature, maybe Violet would feel fear for the first time in a long time, if that was even possible for her now.
