Training was now more than crucial than before, considering there would be a risky mission taking place in a matter of two months. All the cadets were starting to train harder to get sharper and quicker, to sharpen their already deadly skills, because never had a mission with such a task been done before.
Knowing this, Thomas, a cadet in Squad Levi, asked Violet to train him in order to get better. His skills were already superior, better than the other cadets, hence why he was on Levi's Squad. But he just wanted to improve his skills, especially after seeing Violet and Captain Levi out in the field. Their skills left everyone open-mouthed, their speed and agility something never seen before in mere humans. They were just an outstanding pair, so they motivated Thomas to strive to get better. They were both play-fighting, Violet teaching him how to make quick turns and how the body needs to move to grant smoothness and easiness with which the two used to move even faster than the rest. They have been at it for hours now, starting the session since the scorching sun was at its hottest and now as the sun was starting to set. Both of them had done the simulation field more than thrice now, slicing each nape of the fakes, and each time they repeated the set, Thomas got better and better with Violet's aid. He left Violet stunned, surprised to see him grow and sharpen his skills which each trial she put him in.

Landing in the wooden platform back at the start, Violet put her blades away and turned to see the cadet she was training approaching where she was. She smiled at him once his feet touched the ground again. "So, how was it this time?" She said, placing her hands on her hips.
"It was much better, felt so much easier." He said, putting away the long blades.
"That's good," she said. "you're certainly much better."
Violet sat down on the floor and wiped the sweat off her forehead. She was tired. It was exhausting working for such a long time, especially when your body is twisting and turning and doing unexpected spins. She was much more drained than she had expected, but maybe that had to do with her burnout yesterday with the extensive power training. Leaning back and letting the setting sun hit her face, she let out a little sigh and closed her eyes. Sunsets were one of her favourite things from the above, along with the starry nights. They always left her breathless, the most magical thing her eyes had set sight upon. Back at the Underground, she had never seen such a thing before; only once, but the moment was so short that Violet wasn't able to truly admire the beauty of it all. But now she could see such sight every single day, whenever her heart desired. It was a taste of freedom she didn't have the luxury of tasting before, so it brought a smile to her face when she noticed that she finally had that sort of freedom granted.
"Hey, Violet?" Thomas asked, sitting next to the girl enjoying the setting sun.
"What's up?" She said, looking the younger boy on her side.
"Can I ask you something?"
"I mean, you already did." Violet snickered, grinning a little at the boy next to her.
Thomas shoved her lightly on the side, earning a small giggle from the girl. "Ha Ha, you're so funny." Thomas said. "But okay, the real question is how is it that you suppress your fears?"
Getting up slightly, Violet looks at him with a frown. "Thomas, you know I was--"
"I know it was part of your training, but I just want to know how I can stop feeling scared anymore." Thomas expressed, clear frustration on his face. "In every single mission I feel fear, so much undeniable fear and it stops me from doing my best.

"It literally makes me get frozen on the spot or I can't make the best rational decisions. Because of it, I can't perform my best and I just feel so unworthy of being in Captain Levi's Squad."
And so Thomas rambled on and on about his fears, finally letting out how he truly felt. Violet only listened, letting him release all those suppressed emotions. He told her how he was training with her to get better, so that he could become better and feel worthy of being in the Squad; that this way, he would be able to perform at his best without letting his fear get in the way. But he knew well that regardless of how much he trained and how high his skills were, his fear would make him stop dead so he would be back to the first square, and he hated that more than words could explain. "Listen, Thomas," Violet said. "We are all afraid of something, no matter how big or small it might be. But we all have something to fear, so it's perfectly normal.
