≫ ──── ≪•◦ ❈ ◦•≫ ──── ≪Who knew that a small girl who just ate literal shit by falling from a great height, and was in a barely acceptable state, could put up one hell of a fight?
Julian held Violet with a grip of steel as the girl fought to get away from him and towards Mikasa and Eren, who were about to be eaten by a titan. She had to help them, get them out of there and towards safety. She refused to watch them die before her eyes when she could've done something, could've been the one dying instead of them.
Eren and Mikasa were important to her, more than she let on, and if she saw them die in this cruel, cruel way--It just couldn't happen.
But Julian's grip was stronger against her weakened state, could barely fight him when she felt that her head weighed a hundred pounds. "You're unwell, Grey. You can't go. Stop it." Julian said against her ear, which only made her fight him more. But it was fruitless, she was stuck there unable to do something and could only watch as the kids she loved as her own would be pulled apart into pieces and devoured whole, with nothing of them left behind.
Her body turned stone cold at the thought. Panic surged through her body, ending in a tight knot on her throat. She could not let them meet that fate, gods please no. She could not burden the thought of failing someone once more, would not be able to live with that guilt. Especially not with kids she loved as her own.Everything happened so slow, the world once more slowing down to let the moment taunt her mind.
Violet saw with unreal clarity, such a vivid image, how the titan's hand got closer and closer to Eren. How the boy stepped in front of Mikasa to spare her from his dooming fate. She could see how it got closer and closer to the boy who was a beacon of hope, and then closer and closer. And when it got too close that Violet knew it was over, that this would be the last thing she saw of Eren Jaeger, she let out a groundbreaking scream that promised to shake the world apart. But then Hannes appeared.
Sweet ol' Hannes jumped in front of Eren and blocked the titan's hand from getting to any of them, shielding everyone with his body. He made his blade twirl, cutting off the thumb with a swipe of the sharp end.
He would need more to bring the damn thing down, she thought, looking everywhere for a way to help. In her current state, she was useless. Utterly useless. She could not even keep her head up anymore, had to lay back against Julian's chiseled chest to feel some way okay. The fall brought her down completely, quite literally. But she was already tired, her body suffering too many injuries that she did not give the proper care needed.
Her body was battered and the fall only helped to make it worse, to make her finally come to an end. She could not even bring herself to ignite a small flame of fire, did not possess the energy for such a simple task.
And as her eyes went back to Eren, the only thing she could move without problem, the boy was biting his hand over and over again, drawing out blood. He could not transform, could not bring himself to shift forms. And when his green eyes travelled up, Violet's stomach sunk completely. The whole situation was already downright terrible, much worse than anything they had anticipated; and now this--- her eyes followed Eren's and she was sure that this was the world telling them that this was their final night alive.
Hannes, the hero that had saved Eren and Mikasa with a strength Violet did not know came from, was meeting the cruel fate first. The titan grabbed Hannes and brought it over to its mouth, its grin becoming bigger as the soldier got closer and closer to those stretched lips. "No, no, no, no." She mumbled over and over, her hand going over her mouth. Hannes. Hannes was going to die.
She could not make herself watch the scene anymore. Could feel herself break at the sight of such undeserving fate.
Although she did not have the pleasure of knowing the man longer, he had been a kind spirit to her and others on their time together, had been a good man and soldier. And he did not deserve this, no one did.
Violet buried her head on Julian's chest, her friend wrapping his arms around her figure as he, too, looked away. And as the world went eerie silent, not even a single breath to be heard, she knew, Violet knew, that Hannes was dead.✥
The silence was not welcoming. It never was.
Especially not as the world claimed Hannes' life.
Instead of feeling like a pair of open arms greeting with warmth, like many people describe the touch of silence, it felt like the hands of the dead dragging everyone to the deepest, coldest depths of hell. It gave her chills--chills that made her sick, nauseating her with just a single touch. All over the air was the promise of death, of bloodshed and cruel misery. And it screamed with the death of Hannes.
This was it. They were going to die. One by one, they would all go down.
Violet just hoped that she went down first before her loved ones. It would be easier that way. She would rest peacefully if she didn't see that image before she closed her eyes forever.
Maybe it made her a coward, wanting to die first, but it was one of the terms she wanted if she was going down this day.Their one beacon of hope, Erwin, was nowhere to be seen.
And now Eren Jaeger was about to be grabbed again as the titan reached out for the green-eyed boy once more. There will be no future without Eren Jaeger, the boy who acted like a beacon of hope in this madness-stirred world. No hope, no chance of fighting. He, with his gift, was a promise like no other to humanity, a promise that maybe they would make this end one day. But now that he was going to be killed right before their very eyes, all hope for humanity, of that last beacon of hope, would be gone.
But maybe that hope wasn't completely gone, yet. Eren slammed his fit against the titan's hand, and when their skin collided, Violet felt electricity run through her body whole. It froze her, the energy coursing through her veins like no other. She felt it awake something in her, something that has been in a deep, deep slumber for over a thousand years or more. Ancient, it felt ancient, a power that held much more knowledge than she did. And it felt powerful, felt her own magic change when that thing opened its eyes from the deep slumber inside of her, took over her magic and made it even more powerful than it already was. Violet felt reborn, she looked for the pit of her magic and found that it went even deeper than before; she couldn't even find its limit anymore, felt like it went on and on and on, with no ending in near sight.
This startled. This ancient magic. What Eren Jaeger had awoken inside of her as he slammed his fist against the titan's flesh, she did not know. But what she did know was that Eren Jaeger and herself were linked in some way. They were more similar than either of the two had noticed. And she knew that Eren Jaeger had also made a deep power within him get up from its deep slumber, just like with her, when all the titans that had once attacked them charged for the same titan that was about to end his life. The rumble of their feet as they charged over to the other titan was earth-shattering, the very sound of their marching feet taking hold of her beating heart. It was shocking, how they obeyed like loyal dogs. And as they threw themselves on top of the grinning titan, it took a lot in her to not fight Julian's grip and get off the damn horse.
Maybe they had underestimated Eren Jaeger's power. How far it went. Because with this display of just what exactly he could do, Eren Jaeger almost rivaled a god.
He had an unholy power, one that they did not know the full extent of.
The fifteen-year-old kid was their salvation, the key to the end of it. And Violet would play an important role, too. They were connected in some way, their powers linked to the same destiny. And as their eyes met all across the land, they both knew, had noticed, that maybe they were more similar than they thought.≫ ──── ≪•◦ ❈ ◦•≫ ──── ≪
