It had been a while since they last heard of the titan.
They also hadn't seen Squad Levi for some hours. They couldn't catch up to them, so all they did was continue riding, eyes glancing at every direction for titans. Nobody liked being inside the Forest of Giant Trees as they knew that it was a terrible trap for mere humans to find themselves in. Violet's cadets were on their toes, heart hammering at any noise and shadows they came across. No matter how much they tried to calm down, to be brave as Violet and Julian, that greasy fear that covered their veins would not slip away. Violet was aware of this but did not know how to comfort them. Did not know what words would garner their courage. It was bad that they were in such a mental state as it made humans make reckless, stupid mistakes. But at least they were alive, and that's not something the rest could say.

Violet kept her eyes upfront, never once faltering. That's when, from the corner of her eye, she saw an approaching shadow flying their way. She raised her hand and signalled her cadets to come to a stop, just as she did. They pulled back the reins making the animal take a much-needed break as Levi Ackerman touched the ground, his 3D Manoeuvre Gear hooks going back to their home. Violet furrowed her brows as she accessed him with her E/C eyes. Once she determined everything was right with him, no harm clear in his body, she asked, "What happened?"
His eyes met hers. "Did you guys encounter a fourteen-meter titan?"
Fourteen meters? She shook her head. "No, we just heard its steps ahead of us, but nothing else. We haven't faced anything yet." She said, "You?"
His brows furrowed the slightest bit in thought and he turned his head to the side, leaving Violet facing his side profile. He stayed that way for a few seconds more before he faced her again. "I need you to come with me."
"What about my squad?" She asked, "I can't just leave them, Levi. I am their captain."
"Put someone else in charge for now, it's important."
She was about to protest when she saw the seriousness in his gaze. She bit back her tongue and looked back to Julian. "Julian, take charge. I trust you with this." She faced the rest, "I'll be back. Remember your promise to me, don't break it." She dismantled her horse and hooked her gear to one of the trees, as Levi did, and followed his trail.

"Good, you're both here."
They had landed on a tree branch next to Erwin, who was staring intently at the fourteen-meter titans held by multiple wires, one of Hanji's inventions. Violet held back her gasp upon seeing the massive beast who surely had caused the monstrosity to the right flank. It looked like nothing she had ever seen before in her long time serving in the Survey Corps. Everything about it was foreign, but it did hold similarities to the other titans she had seen. But one thing she did know was that this titan was no ordinary titan, and it was here to cause more harm than any of their kind ever had.
"Looks like it's immobilized," Levi said.
Erwin nodded his head. Violet kept on staring at the beast, eyes outlining its whole body. "This titan, I am assuming it's like Eren's." She mused.
"We are not sure yet, but we are assuming it is too." Erwin said, "This thing is holding it down for as good as we got."
Both Levi and Violet nodded, their eyes nor face revealing the emotions they felt as they stared at the thing with cold spheres. And as if the titan felt their cold gazes, it turned its head slightly and looked straight at them with its light blue eyes; and as Violet met her own stare with the blue eyes of the titan, her gut feeling burned even worse than before.

Right then and there, Violet felt something course through her veins.
But she didn't have time to think about it, wasn't able to look into it more as Erwin turned to look at Violet and Levi and said in the coldest tone she had ever heard from the man, "You know what to do. Try to cut it through."
They unsheathed their blades and hooked their gears into opposite trees, Violet taking the left side and Levi the right. They connected their hooks into the titan's flesh and twisting in the air at an incredible rate, went to slice it with their blades. But as soon as they were getting close enough to even smell the scent of the beast, Violet saw the skin change right before her eyes, going from its red flesh to a metal-like thing that protected the titan from the sharpness of their blades. It happened in a blink of an eye that Violet and Levi had no other choice but to still attempt to slice it, their blades ringing against the thing the titan had created. And with the noise her blade had created and how it hadn't caused the slightest of damage, Violet realized the titan had hardened its skin; and it hit her like the weight of a thousand bricks. The thing the titan had created was like the material she could create with her very hands, her very mind. Just like the one she had used on missions to kill and hold down titans. She landed back on the tree and cursed. Not only had her blades shattered into nothing, but what she had found out was troubling information. But she did not let her face tell a single thing to anyone around her.

She looked back at the titan and her eyes widen. Standing on top of it was Levi Ackerman, talking to the thing in a soft murmur. She could not hear what he told the beast, nor could read his lips, so she just stood there with her blades ready in case she had to act and attack the beast. But it seemed like the titan did not enjoy what Levi had told because, without a warning, it let out an ear-crushing scream. Violet covered her ears, cringing at the sound it was letting out from its mouth. It was terrible. The worst sound Violet had ever heard in her life. She could still hear it just as loudly even with her hands covering her ears.
And then, it stopped screaming. For a while, nothing happened and everyone looked at each other dumbfoundedly. But Violet knew something was wrong, could feel it once more. She looked back to the titan, looked at its face, and saw it grin. She blinked twice and when she looked back, that grin was gone. Maybe she had imagined it, maybe she was wrong. But maybe she was right and she had seen it grin because as if all hell was set loose, titans started appearing left and right in every which direction.
Acting out of instinct, Violet hooked her gear to the trees and let her blades run loose, slicing and cutting the napes of each titan that came in her way. There were so many of them, reaching out for her or the other cadets doing the same as her, that she was twisting and turning her body at the speed of light, just to kill all those grinning little demons who had appeared as if in an act of magic. Her blades were not enough as the multitude of titans just kept growing, that she had to ignite her powers and burn a few to ash. With just a flick of her wrist, they went down, but still, it wasn't enough. But it was enough to kill a titan that was getting near to Levi. Her heart had almost stopped due to how close Levi was to the titan's reach that she didn't even need to think twice to send a furious red flaming ball of fire over to the titan and making it devour it whole.

Everyone there was trying their hardest to stop the madness; but alas, it was a fruitless effort that Erwin Smith had screamed at everyone to retreat. He could see, from up where he was in a tree, that if they continued like that, all his cadets would be gone. So there was no other option but to retreat, to admit defeat. He would rather have them alive and well than have them be nothing more than cold corpses decorating the forest floor. So Violet and the rest put their blades away and landed on the branches of the trees.

And as she turns around to see, the female titan was gone.
