The sky was a beautiful, mesmerizing blue when Violet stepped out to the field that morning, such a contrast to the rough night that consisted of her crying till she was out of the salty, warm liquid. She didn't feel like going out and doing what was expected of her, much rather be in the comfort of her four walls, wrapped in a blanket and crying some more. But as much as she wanted the latter so desperately, she had no other option but to put her brave face on once again and acted as if nothing bothered her at all.
She was now moving some wood to the kitchen, a good pile on her shoulders, as the cooks had run out of it and requested if she could bring some over to them. It wasn't much of a hassle to bring them what they needed, so she obeyed with no complaint and carried more wood than what seemed possible for the girl. Huge, thick piles adorned her shoulders as she carried them to the kitchen without ever stopping once for a break. From afar, it didn't seem like she would be able to carry it without struggling heavily, so much pressure and weight on her small figure, as it looked like she would break like a twig, but she made it seem like it hardly weighed a bit.

This was her third time going back to the kitchen, her final time too, when she saw Petra approach her when the other times she hadn't seen her at all. Violet didn't stop, however, and continued walking to her destination. It wasn't to be petty or because she resented the girl, after all, it wasn't the girl's fault since she didn't know; she simply didn't stop because she really wanted to get her task done. However, her wish didn't come true as Petra ran up to her and smiled at Violet like she always has. "Good morning, Violet!" Continuing her task at hand, Violet only said, "Morning, Petra."
The red-headed girl didn't seem to understand that Violet didn't have time to talk, however, and followed behind the dull-eyed girl. "Hey, V, did I make you feel bad last night?" Petra said, "I was told that I made you feel upset and-- I feel so bad! Please, please know it was not my intention!" She moved her hands frantically, her movements showing her regret and embarrassment.
It was curious to Violet that someone had told the girl about how she had almost burst out crying last night, as she thought she did her best to hide her tears and the discomfort in her eyes. She wondered who it could've been that told the cheerful girl how she had felt. Julian? Thomas? Maybe not, but the question of who could've been didn't stop repeating in her mind.

Violet didn't expect an apology, nor needed one, as the girl didn't know how delicate that subject was, so it wasn't her fault by any chance. If anything, she just wanted to move on and pretend like that didn't even happen. It was comforting to know not many noticed how she was so close to coming apart with just a simple reminder of the nightmare she had lived. It meant that her secret was still safe, that only she knew the full truth of it all. So the less who knew or noticed, the better.

"Who told you that?"
"That's not important!" Petra frowned. "What matters is that I made you feel bad and I sincerely apologize! I feel so terribly sorry about it, I would never want to make you feel bad."
"Hey, it's alright. I didn't even feel that bad." Which was a straight up lie, but Violet didn't want to make the girl feel even guiltier than what she already was. "Now stop frowning and go do whatever the hell it is that you need to do. I'm fine, okay?" A forced smile stretched her lips.
Petra nodded her head several times and returned the smile. She was already making her way to wherever it was she needed to go when she turned around as she remembered an important message. "Violet! By the way, Levi Heichou wants to see you in his office."
Before Violet could ask her why, the girl had already sprinted off once again and Violet didn't feel like calling out her name. She quickened her pace and arrived at the kitchen in a matter of just a couple of steps, wanting to get her task done so that she could get to the Captain's office as soon as she could. Putting the wood down were instructed, she looked up and saw the cooks nodding in approval. "Thank you so much, Violet." The head cook said.
"It's no problem, really. Tell me when you need something else."
