It didn't take long for Violet to reach Levi's office at such late hour in the night.
"Hello, Captain." She said as she took a sit by one of his chairs near his desk, putting her pile of paperwork neatly on her lap.
"Hello, brat." He said, "Shouldn't you be snoring off to the late hours of the night?"
Violet snorted. "Sleep? What's that? And I don't snore, for your information."
"Say that to the many complains that cadets have issued regarding, and I quote, "a bear-like sound" in the middle of the night." He threw her an accusing raise of a brow, his grey eyes momentarily shining with a hint of amusement.
She rolled her eyes, leaning her chest against the desk as she reached over and flicked his forehead. He let out a silent hiss, narrowing his eyes in annoyance as her fingers made contact with his skin. "Brat." He said, stuttering a bit over his words. A little hint of blush tainted his cheeks the tiniest bit, not enough for Violet to notice in the poor candle-lit room.
"Asshole." She said, "That's what you get for insinuating I snore like some beast. If anything, I bet you are the one who snores in his sleep." It was now her turn to narrow her eyes in annoyance, trying her hardest not to growl at him as she knew this was him taunting a reaction out of her. "The cadets didn't complain about me, Grey." He said.
"Nor did they mention me." She said, "This is you assuming it was about me."

Levi rolled his eyes. "What are you doing here, Violet?"
She lifted the massive pile of paperwork from her lap and brought it to eye level, showing Levi why she was here. "To make you some company, Captain. I wouldn't want my favourite Captain to be alone in this sad excuse of a night." The word 'favourite' and 'Captain' coming out of her lips with a mocking tone, the roles being reversed as she was now trying to get a reaction out of him.
"I'm not doing your paperwork, brat. I already have enough as it is, I don't need you to be an even bigger pain."
"Gods, get off your high horse. I'm not asking you to do my work, asshole. I'm here to do it with you, for you not to be alone. That's what company is all about!"
"I don't need-- I mean, why are--" He cleared his throat, collecting himself. "Make yourself comfortable, Grey. As long as you're not being a constant pain."
Violet grinned. "Yeah, yeah, you're too nice." She got up and made her way to the small reading corner Levi had near the left side of his entrance door, the same place where she had done paperwork with him once before. A long time ago. This time, however, she was more prepared than the last time -- with a pen -- and had paperwork of her own due to her duty as a Captain. As she sat down at the somewhat comfortable chair, she thought how crazy it was that she was now a Captain when not long ago she sat in this same chair a long reach from where she currently was. It made her notice how much her life had changed ever since being brought to the Survey Corps, so different from her life in the Underground. If anything, her life was...better, here in the above. She didn't have to kill on the daily, no longer had to worry and watch behind her back every given second in case someone was looking to plunge a knife on her back. Overall everything was much better. Aside from the fact that her new enemy was even bigger than she was. But, nevertheless, much better.
"Stop smiling like that, brat," Levi said, looking at her with a frown.
Violet wiped the smile off her face and raised her hand, flicking the man off. "Fix that constant frown, old man. Makes you look even older."
Levi only sighed and went back to the paper in front of him. Violet did the same, not before looking at the man one more time.

It was a few minutes of silence, enough for Violet to finish one paper, when Levi spoke up. "Do you like being here? Not in the Underground, I mean."
"Gods, where did this question even come from?" She frowned, seeing that he didn't answer. "Right, okay. Being here, above ground, has been nicer than I could've imagined. Life certainly has been...nicer than back in the Underground. I don't have to fight for anything anymore nor kill anyone every given day, which has been a major upgrade." She sighed, not knowing whether she should continue and be vulnerable with Levi, or keep quiet. She took one quick look at him and decided to be somewhat vulnerable, as much as she would allow. She had to tell someone about what she truly felt before her emotions bottled up once again, and to stop something like last time from happening again. While Julian was usually the person she would vent to when she rarely needed, he wasn't here right now. Levi was. And it wouldn't hurt to tell him just a little of what was bursting in her heart. "I wouldn't go back, I don't think I would ever willingly do. I appreciate everything I was taught as an assassin, but no, I wouldn't go back ever again... I'm glad I left, that I got to leave that place. Although what I had to endure for four years is probably one of the few things I will never, ever forget as long as I breathe.
