A heavy feeling washed over your body as both you and Kaeya walked home from school after an exhausting day. You two had to pass by an empty field ( since you both live in the countryside ) to reach both of your homes since you two are neighbors. This has been the usual ever since elementary for the both of you even though Kaeya's parents are gone, he can still afford to live by himself due to his part-time job.
"Hey Kaeya, if your parents are still here.. Would you be living in the neighborhood still?" you nudged the male who was drinking the beverage he bought from the convenience store you both stopped into before walking back home. You bought a corn chip that you've been aching to buy right after just seeing it in stock.
Kaeya took a huge sip which made the cup make a bubbling sound right before he tucked it inside of a plastic bag in his backpack, to throw it as soon as he got home. He shrugged at your question, "I know my parents are travelling salesmen from before while I was still a child but.. Maybe I'll beg for them to let me stay in the neighborhood"
A relieved sigh escaped your lips upon hearing the words.
Waking up knowing that Kaeya is your neighbor has been the 'same as always' for you. You were afraid of change plus, you rarely meet the people around your age in the neighborhood as it was rather troublesome for you and Kaeya knows that.
That was probably one of the reasons why he stayed as well, because he knows your fear of striking up a conversation and meeting new people.
You both arrived by the river where there's a huge bridge for people to cross it. Flowers from the trees were also in bloom so they easily drop from their branches with a strong breeze or two. You eyed a single frangipani flower swaying against the breeze and eventually dropping on the calm waters of the river, generating a ripple of water surging. The gradianted flower peacefully rests on the water, sometimes swaying from time to time.
"Do you have any plans for a couple of days starting next week?" Kaeya stopped walking beside you and looked at your direction. "The principal asked me to collect some anecdotes in the main city for an event in school. Though.. I have no idea what the event is.. exactly"
You purse your lips into a thin line and nodded at him, "I see.. Well my parents wouldn't mind it if you accompany me. But.. will we be alone together on this trip?"
Kaeya nods in response, "Yeah. The principal told me to bring a friend along and I know you like the cityscapes especially at night so I decided to tag you along" he grins and places his hand on his waist. "Start packing your bags, we will be staying at an apartment that the school got for us in a couple of weeks"
As soon as you both crossed the bridge, this is where you both part ways. Kaeya started walking ahead of you to reach his home, just a couple of steps from your doorstep. You watch him walk, unlock his door and safely enter his home before you could unlock the gate to your house and arrive inside as well.
