─ THEY ARE HUMAN . SOON , THEY WON'T BE IN THIS WORLD ANYMORE .
Zhongli silently watched over (Y/n) who was picking flowers, Glazed lilies to be exact, on the terraces in Qingce Village. It is almost the sunset, a perfect time to watch these flowers fully bloom.
He felt a sting in his heart as he repeat those words over.. and over again.
It is true that (Y/n) won't be staying for long in this world as they are a mere human. They are like an hourglass, once that the sand has completely fallen on the bottom, it means that their time has finally come.
(Y/n) is not a god like him, therefore they won't be staying for a long period of time.
Usually, humans go for until their golden age but for (Y/n), they only have a short time left before they completely leave the world.
"Zhongli... I'm done picking flowers.." (Y/n) slowly walked to where Zhongli was, their frail arms were shaking as they were holding quite a lot of lilies. Their face looked sunken as time passes, their once melodious voice were now slowly fading. "...I... sang them... a song as well.."
The male winced as he heard how (Y/n) forced themselves to talk even though it pains them to do so. He was surprised when (Y/n) stumbled on their steps, making them fall on his chest.
"...Sorry..."
Zhongli bitterly wrapped his arms around (Y/n).
Never in his life would he find himself to be attached with a human in his entire life. He was one of the strongest gods who stood victorious in the archon war, he wasn't supposed to be emotionally attached to someone.
The geo lord gently pushed (Y/n) to let them stand on their own feet. A sheepish smile was then plastered on their face as they let out a weak laugh, "I'm sorry. I guess the saying is that whenever you age, you get weaker and weaker huh..?"
"....but of course.... that's doesn't apply to... you right...?"
Not entirely. Gods may die just like humans but only in special circumstances. They don't live forever.
Zhongli picked up a Glazed Lily and tucked it behind (Y/n)'s ear. He gently placed a tender kiss on the corner of their lips, savoring the little time that they have in this world.
The Glazed Lily slowly bloomed as the sun slowly went down and painted everything in midnight blue.
That lone flower, is a mere reminder of Zhongli that (Y/n) will soon join his beloved friends that disappeared in the world.
