Venti's age : 10 Your age : 9
❝Hey Venti? Will you promise me something?❞
You fiddled with your thumb as you stumble down the words you would like to say to your childhood bestfriend, Venti. It is almost Christmas, and the day before that is when you and your family will move to Liyue.
You and your family decided to do so because your father was promoted to a higher position and moved to Liyue. Your mother decided that all of you will follow your father since she couldn't handle raising you and your siblings all alone.
❝I don't make promises that I don't intend to keep, (Y/n). You know that..❞
Venti is already 10 years old. He intended to stay in Mondstadt since this is his home and all his friends are here especially, you. He wanted to protect his beloved childhood bestfriend, and stay by your side until you both grow old together.
The two always make promises together since they were young. Pinky promises, would they say.
❝But.. could you at least try?❞
You took Venti's hands and held it gently. You took a deep breath to ease your beating heart. Venti stared at your eyes, this sounded serious. He thought to himself as he also took a deep breath to prepare for the worst scenario.
❝Venti, I won't be spending Christmas here❞
You said in a monotone voice. Venti tilted his head to the side, wondering where will you go to spend the winter season. But, (Y/n) didn't seem excited too much if their family is going to travel. Venti thought to himself while thinking.
The older's heart began to speed up.
It made him very uncomfortable.
❝W..Where.. will you go?❞
His voice cracked, this isn't a good sign.
❝Liyue. That's why I want you to promise me that you'll remember me. Nothing will change between the two of us once I come back in a few years❞
Venti shook his head, he can't accept the fact that you will be moving away. All the promises that they made will be all for nothing then?
❝(Y/n).. I..❞
❝Promise❞
Even if Venti was against this, he has no other choice but to respect the decision. Not gonna lie, Venti did have some feelings for you.. but he wasn't sure if he should say it.
That was 10 years ago, now back to the present.. you became an adult. You currently work in Yuehai Pavilion, under Ganyu's guidance. Sometimes you'd accompany her to take a look around to see if everything is in shape.
You were given an ample vacation time, so you decided to come back to your home town, Mondstadt.
"Welcome to Monstadt!"
The 2 knights by the outskirts welcomed your carriage. Everyone has their eyes on the carriage you were riding on, it was probably because they think that some huge visitor is coming to Mondstadt.
Jean was waiting at the lowest part of the staircase, leading towards the fountain with a cute blonde haired girl next to her. Jean was one of your friends from childhood as well, she keeps on telling how much she wanted to be a grandmaster of Mondstadt.
You were happy that she got her dream.
"(Y/n)!" Jean smiled happily as she ran towards your direction once you step out of the carriage. "Oh my, we've missed you so much!"
The blonde little girl waa hiding behind Jean, she was curiously looking at you, taking note of your current attire. You were wearing clothing from Liyue which makes you pop out.
"Who's this little girl?" You sat down to meet the girl's curious eyes. "You kinda remind me of myself when I used to live in Mondstadt"
"That's Klee" Jean smiled as you pat Klee's head, earning a giggle from her. "I'm glad that you're back.. it's not the same without you.. especially Venti"
You stood up and your expression turned grim. You wanted to see him once more but you're quite scared of how he'll react seeing you. But nevertheless, you sighed and nodded to yourself.
"Where's Venti..?" You softly asked, fiddling with your fingers. "I-Is he okay..? How was he when I left..?"
Jean sighed and turned to Klee, "How about you play by the lake for now? Don't blow up the fishes there okay?!"
Klee nodded and sped off outside Mondstadt to do what Jean suggested. The female in front of you gestured you to come with her to the office so you both could have a chat silently.
The grandmaster's office was quite huge and the thick smell of books wafted around the place. Jean sat on the chair by the center desk area while you sat down across her, on one of the chairs at the side.
"We haven't heard from Venti ever since.." she softly said, resting her chin on top of clasped hands. "A few days after your family moved out, Venti seems to disappear. He became a missing person and we've been trying to track him down ever since but so far.. we don't have any leads"
It was as if everything came to a stop. Your heart dropped upon hearing the news about this.
"You're.. kidding right?"
Jean silently shook his head and took out a document which has Venti's picture as a child on and labeled as, missing. You were so close to cry your heart out, but you didn't want Jean to see it.
"I prepared a room for you.. why don't you take a rest for there in the meantime? I'll try and see if we can get any leads tonight" Jean sadly smiled at you and lead you towards the room in the headquarters.
You just lied down, staring at the ceiling not knowing that it was already nighttime. The moonlight poured down from your open window giving out a dim, yet luminous glow.
Sitting up, you sighed. It was as if an empty void was in your heart.
It was not the same without him.
Suddenly, rustling was heard from the other end of your window. You were curious to what was causing this so you hurriedly walked towards the window.
But before you could take a look out the window, a figure suddenly stepped inside the room. That someone was someone you wanted to see for a long time, and that person was..
"Venti?"
The boy smiled and reached out a hand, "Come with me? Let's fulfill our promises to each other.."
