Right before Diluc could resign from the Knights of Favonius, he was tasked to watch over a child that was found in the outskirts of the city by one of the patrolling knights. Seeing that Jean already had too much on her hands, he reluctantly accepted the mission right before he could resign.
Diluc never realized the value of life before as he continued to venture into life-risking adventures. One of which was infiltrating the fatui's headquarters all alone and managing to barely escape, alive. Good thing that the knights arrived at the headquarters before Diluc could be pummeled by the fatui members otherwise he couldn't make it out alive.
"Diluc!" you tugged on the edge of his pants upon seeing him with his faithful butler, Elzer who was discussing something about a suspicious guest in the upcoming ball that the dawn winery hosts every year. Your father however, just looked at you briefly before continuing his discussion with Elzer. "Papa, would you play with me..?"
Elzer bowed his head then walked away, leaving you with Diluc in the room. The red head heaved out a sigh and knelt down to reach your height. He placed his hand on top of your head and gave you a gentle pat, "I apologize (Y/n).. but I'm still busy with the preparations for the party. Play with your uncle Kaeya for a bit until I finish up alright..?"
You purse your lips when Diluc stood up and walked away from you. You didn't want to tell him, but you kinda miss having a father figure. Diluc was either busy or tired of playing games with you which eventually led you to be with Kaeya's side. Although you didn't mind your uncle's presence, you do want to spend time with your father.
"Oh (Y/n)! What's my favorite swan doing here all alone?" Kaeya suddenly entered the ballroom with ribbons on his hands. He ran over to your direction and gently picked you up, cradling you in his arms. "I'm afraid you shouldn't be here at the moment, we're still preparing for the party tomorrow!"
"But.. papa wouldn't play with me.." you nuzzled against Kaeya's pelt of fur on his shoulder, though you sneezed when it tickled your nostrils.
Kaeya chuckled and placed you down, "Would you like to play with your uncle for a while?"
You shook your head and sadly sat down on the ballroom floor while crossing your arms. You were rather upset that your father wouldn't give you the time you wanted. Kaeya could sacrifice his time for you, but why couldn't Diluc?
"I'll just go to my room.." you meekly stood up and walked out of the ballroom.
Kaeya's usual face dropped into a concerned expression as he watched you leave the ballroom. He heaved out a sigh and walked over towards the ribbons in which he needs to put up as the decoration. One by one the maids started pouring inside the room to decorate the walls and luckily, Diluc walked inside to watch over the preparation.
The navy haired male walked over to Diluc and rested his arm on the red head's shoulder while leaning against his body. Diluc frowned, "Do you mind moving away from me..?"
