There was this old legend from Inazuma that has been passed down from generations. People would tell them to their children, though as the time slowly passed, parents stopped telling the story as they wouldn't want to give their children false hopes. Your parents didn't mention this story back then when you were still in childhood and you only heard of it now from a certain white haired samurai whom you were travelling with. Kazuha was one of your childhood friends along with another whom you had never seen nor heard from ever again but you knew he won't be coming back when Kazuha showed you a vision without an element.

The legend tells how a thousand paper cranes would make someone's wish come true, may it be eternal happiness or love, a mythical crane-like creature would descend from the heavens to fulfill the wish.

This brought you into a state of thinking, seeing how Kazuha was attached to his friend, you thought if you could make a thousand paper cranes you can wish for the crane to revive your long lost childhood friend. Kazuha didn't know of your plan since he was going on a trip with the Crux when you remembered the legend. It was nighttime when the huge boat was sailing so there weren't many people by the pier at this hour.

"Are you really not returning?" you clutched a white-colored handkerchief onto your chest as you watched the wandering samurai board the ship. A female with long, dark brown hair with an eye patch covering left eye stood over the deck as she eyed each person who was boarding her ship. She looked over the two of you and crossed her arms in thought.

Beidou knew who Kazuha was but not his friend, she doesn't even recall that he had a friend in the first place. He was a man filled with mystery but she immediately grew a liking to him after he proposed a valuable prize to her annual martial arts contest. She sat down on the small set of stairs that leads towards the steering wheel to eavesdrop a little on the two's conversation.

"I already told you (Y/n), I don't want to be oppressed in this nation any longer. If only you knew what had happened, you wouldn't want to live in this kind of civilization any longer too" Kazuha turns around to face you with an unreadable expression on his face. Seeing how you lowered your gaze in defeat, the samurai reached over his pockets and grabbed a small maple leaf shaped pin. He walked over to your direction and gently attached the pin on your clothing. He made sure to attach it to the area where your heart was, "I am a convicted criminal (Y/n), I needed to flee this place as soon as possible. I don't want anyone to shun you just because you know me"

"I.. understand" you held onto his hand tightly, nuzzling into his warmth for the last time. Kazuha looks at you sadly and nodded before pulling away from your grasp and boarding the ship. You heaved out a sigh and started walking away from the pier.

As the wandering samurai stepped on the deck, he was shocked to see Beidou looking at him with narrowed eyes. She was sitting against the staircase and seemed to be in deep thought after hearing the conversation earlier. Kazuha shook his head and head over the farthest side of the deck to look over the place he once called home. A bell struck in the air as the crew started to pull the anchor upwards and let the ship sway within the gentle movement of the water.
