disordered eating mention
"So where's that?" Gov muttered looking at the screen in front of him.
"Downtown Orlando, facilities got great reviews, most patients are out in a year." The nurse explained. Gov nodded.
"That's good. It'll keep him in Orlando but away from work." Gov said, stuffing his hands in his pants.
"We've got another one, this is in California...."
"Gov?" Gov turned to see his cousin in the doorway of the nurse's office, looking concerned but exhausted, like she hadn't slept in three days. In reality none of them had.
"I thought you were staying back in Washington?" IDC asked.
"What, can't I come visit?" Gov teased, half-smiling at his cousin.
"This ones in Burbank." The nurse announced turning both governments' attention back to her.
"Can you forward these to my address? I'll take a look at them there." Gov asked the nurse, to IDC's confusion.
"What are you doing?" IDC demanded as Gov the nurse his address.
"I'm looking into inpatient treatments for DC." Gov explained. He sighed as his cousin groaned.
"GOV. We've discussed this!" IDC hissed as Gov left the nurse's office.
"You know as well as I do that DC can't get better back in that house! He needs proper medical care, and people who know what they're doing." Gov pointed out.
"His boyfriends have been taking this so seriously, dad and papa have too. He'll be fine back at the Statehouse." IDC said voice raising.
"Oh please one day in that house and he'll need medical help again! These places are certified, they can help DC with his issues ...."
"DC can't just be MAGICALLY FIXED Gov!" IDC shouted. Before Gov could respond, a shout came down the hallway.
"HEY." Georgia yelled standing in the doorway so he could peek out into the hallway. "Dee's trying to sleep!" He disappeared back into the room, and both cousins sighed.
"Y'know if I told Uncle Geo or Uncle Tucky about this they'd be for it." Gov hissed.
"Bullshit they would. And this is DC's decision, we can't force him." IDC pointed out.
"Well let's go ask." Gov suggested, storming past his cousin and going into the room. The hospital room DC was recovering in was quiet, save for some beeping and pumping noises from machines. Kentucky was asleep in one of the chairs, crunched up in himself, trying to have some relaxation after a couple days of sleep. Georgia was next to him on another chair, holding his hand, trying to stay awake but slowly drifting off. DC was on the bed, hooked up to wires, slowly coming to as his cousins entered the room.
"DeeDee? How ya doing?" IDC asked immediately at her twins' side.
"Hey. Izzy can....I'm thirsty." DC begged. IDC nodded and quickly filled up her brother's cup with water as Gov stepped forward.
"You look good champ." Gov said with a smile.
"I look like shit." DC muttered, taking the cup from his sister.
"Well no more than you usually do." Gov teased as DC gently whacked him. Gov sat on the edge of the bed, playing with the patterns on the blanket. "The nurse and I have been talking..."
"DeeDee none of this has been decided." IDC said quickly coming back with the water. Georgia yawned but sat up, finally awake and waiting to hear the conversation.
"The nurse and I have been talking about inpatient treatments." Gov announced. DC tilted his head confused, and Georgia gently hit Kentucky's arm forcing him to wake up.
"That means you'll be going to a facility to handle your mental health, for your eating problems with people who'll help you." Gov explained. He hated how his cousin's face fell, how wide his eyes went.
"A facility?" Georgia cut in as his husband woke up.
"Yeah, it'll be a great place. We saw a few of them on the screen in the nurse's office. There's one in Orlando so you can see your partners." Gov explained.
"DeeDee, this is all your choice whatever you want to do." IDC said quickly. DC looked between his sister and cousin, clearly nervous and twisting the blankets in his hands.
"I....I...."
"How much would this cost us?" Kentucky demanded.
"Oh the government would pay for it, you won't have to worry about anything." Gov explained before Kentucky cut him off.
"We ain't sending him off to a place! He needs to be home healing with his family." Georgia yelled.
"This isn't some cold Uncle Tucky, these are serious medical conditions that DC needs help for!" Gov pointed out.
"We can't send him away! Do you think we can't help him?" Kentucky demanded.
"Not at all! But he needs specialized people...."
"Please don't send me away." The argument immediately stopped and everyone turned to face DC who had curled up into himself.
"P-Please....I'll get better at home....I promise...I.....please I...I don't send me away." DC begged, beginning to cry. Kentucky immediately left Georgia's side, and sat on the bed hugging his son tight.
"We're not you hear me? I'm not sending you away." Kentucky whispered into DC's shoulder as DC cried. IDC sighed and rubbed her forehead, she guessed that was Gov's answer then. She turned to her cousin when she caught the blur of Gov leaving the room. IDC quickly followed him.
"GOV. Gov please--" IDC called.
"Y'know!" Gov yelled whirling around and facing his cousin, glaring but with tears in his eyes. "I don't want to be seen as a bad guy because I wanted to help him!"
"You're not the bad guy!" IDC begged.
"You and DC and District are like my brother's and sister! You're all I have!" Gov yelled letting the tears fall. "Seeing DC that frail....that sick....that mentally unwell...." IDC didn't say a word, just grabbed her cousin and brought him into a tight hug.
"I know....I know...." IDC whispered. "He's my twin, I hate seeing him like this."
"If I could....I'd....I'd trade places with him." Gov whimpered.
"We just got to help him." IDC cried. "The only ways we can." The two stood together in the hallway, holding each other and crying. They didn't know what to do or how to fully help DC, but they knew they were in for the fight together. However long it takes.
